I have seen worse contact from school girls! Not bashing AMA but come on... not a follower and have no idea of all the rules but that shit is weak in comparison to simple street fights. A real good boxer would kill these guys.
He got hit with a thigh in his face while the knee was on it's way to his chest. You can clearly see that from all angles. That right hook to the left temple when he let his guard down for a split second to see if the guy stopped swinging on him yet @ exactly 3:10 is what really dazed him.

“If you can convince the lowest white man he’s better than the best colored man, he won’t notice you’re picking his pocket. Hell, give him somebody to look down on, and he’ll empty his pockets for you.”
There's a lot of people putting their two cents worth here here, but for real, it takes a lot of balls to get in a cage and fight mano a mano. Danza isn't a referee, judge or commissioner so don't blame him for the DQ call. The illegal blow did look questionable to me too, but he defintely got struck in the head by Mir's knee and/or upper thigh, and they are going to err on the side of the fighter's safety, especially in an amateur fight.
I do think that Danza was outsized by his opponent since he looked small compared to Mir. I recall that he fought his last fight at 145 lbs so maybe this one at 160 lbs was a stretch anyway for him to fight someone sharing a famous fighter's surname. Still, a win is a win even if lame. Better luck in your next outing, Danza.

Thing is, this was not a win, and he clearly knew that. You can see that in his eye at the end. But yea the judgment made the match to his favor. Fighting mano to mano is just that in the ring, but in real life without rules...dude would have been killed. Danza deserves props for putting himself in harms way for the show, but as the Gambler says"you got to know when to walk away, and know when to run" Best of luck in your next bout!!
To be fair, it also looks like Mir illegally punched him in the back of the head with downward hit right before the knee. Back of the neck/head shots will completely mess up your balance.
It does take balls and dedication and some athletic ability - so kudos to Danza for that but he looked pretty outmatched, short fight because of the DQ so we'll have to see how he does in his next fight - a rematch would be nice.
i don't get the 'amateur' part - what's the point of being an amateur? Not like MMA is an Olympic sport.
I moved my sites to Vacares Hosting. I've saved money, my hair is thicker, lost some weight too! Thanks Sly!

Yeah I agree, that guy looked much bigger, who run's the scales? or is it not done by weight, I'm a boxing fan so not sure on the rules of this sport.

MMA -Mixed Martial Arts Danza is a ground fighter who is trained in ju jitsu and his game is the ground. Mir easily had 15 pounds on him and escaped off the ground rather easily. If you look at what was going on Danza was trying to tire mir out. Danza also took those punches like a champ. Anyone who has had fight experince knows that any blow to the head while fighting could be dangrous. His head clearly pops back weither the knee or not that will knock you flat on your ass. Danza did great, and we were glad to sponser him win or lose. He is a great person to work with and did everything in his power to make us happy. We look forward to working with him again and watching him beat mir in the next match.

You do realize that two people can weigh exactly the same and look dramatically different at that same weight? For example a guy who is 6'1" tall at 155 pounds vs a guy 5'6" at 155 lbs or a guy who is more muscular vs a guy who is lankier and leaner. The same state athletic commissioners (see- no quotes needed on "sport") that license boxers also run the scales at MMA weigh ins. They weigh in the day before the event just like professional boxers do. So both fighters usually put on at least several pounds or even up to 20 pounds or so in the 24+ hours before the actual fight.
Was that a "I should pretend like I'm hurt" face cover, followed by a check with my corner real quick through the fence, OK? Okay cover face again I just saw? :P
he would have been in a coma in the 2nd round for months. lucky the ref was paid off on the fake illegal knee...i should upload some real fights outside on the street that are more impressive then this one. waste of 8 min of my life.

short stocky guys are fucking hard to grapple with, Chris should avoid getting in a rematch with Mir, whole different league in strength
kudos to Barden for showing up anyways, looked like a very tough opponent from the get go

for every action there's a reaction. danza hit the ground at 3:17-3:31 in the defensive turtle position. The camera cuts away after that point.
perhaps this act was the reason that danza's safety came into question.
Chris did well - good early press that took Mir by surprise and great recovery from the take down. Neither fighter wanted it to go down like that in the end.

Not a good performance from our GFY buddy, Mir landed a good knee to the chest and i am sure his air was gone from that point.
I don't recall any rules that thigh in the face is an illegal blow.
We have the luxury of seeing it in a multiple angle unlike the fucking ref.

I think it was a bad call but that doesn't take anything away from Dirty Danza (congratulations on the win). While Danza looked a little rocked even before the knee, the fight was very close besides that last flurry and anything could have happened in the second. All it takes is one choke or submission and it could be over.
I think a rematch is in order...
You don't like my posts? Put me on ignore or fuck right off. I'll say what I want.
kazushi sakuraba is the definition of heart. yes that's his fucking ear falling off in a match.
DD has heart for fighting? Americans are pussy by that interpretation.
people bitch about the size difference and amateur safety. pls remember sakuraba has always been a 180lb fighter who fights at open weight.
the match was stopped because danza fell to the ground in a defensive, turtle position for 13+ seconds. which indicated to the commission and doctor that a fighter is hurt.
/rant
akira shoji = heart. this guy use to write his will and testament before every match. he never knew if he was comming back home after a fight.
danza - you need a s&c coach. good luck on your pursuit.

you choose to be a fucking fighter. choice is the key word.
you know how many fighters have no heart? saying danza has heart is idiotic.
saku, fedor, shoji = heart. stepping in the ring does not constitute having heart.
heart is determine how one face adversity.
competing in amateur mma doesn't not = heart. if danza had heart where was he when it was time to fight kimbo? why did he fall on the ground for 13+ secs to indicate he was hurt and unable to compete? then shaking his head after the decision?
First off, DD did GREAT. It takes huge courage and dedication to step into a ring like that.
I don't understand Mir, i get the impression he's a total moron. No disrespect DD, but it looked like Mir was winning before Mir pulled the illegal crap. WHY? Just shows Mir is a moron to do that, esp when it happened it looked like Mir had the upper hand. I suspect it's why Mir SHARES the name of a famous fighter and isn't one himself........
a win is a win. Congrats to DD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
