Themeforest themes vs other premium themes

Have you noticed Themeforest themes usually require a great deal of manual setup first, to get the theme up and running but also even creating a single post may require first creating specific sized images of varying sizes. It can be tedious having to do this with every new post.

Wordpress has the ability create varying image sizes built-in, why don't themes take advantage of this? Why not also use defaults, where an image already uploaded is chosen as featured image or in other uses unless otherwise specified?

Still worse, you won't find any of this out until after you've already purchased the theme. There's no pre-sale access to documentation or help files. Refunds even immediately after a purchase where you find this out is difficult. Support is lacking.

Sometimes you can tweak the WordPress media settings to make the image you import the right size to match the theme, so you don't have to hit Photoshop before every post. Not terribly precise, but it makes posting much easier.

I wouldn't call them "issues" but rather needing time to setup, and some of them requiring specific images sizes instead of using WP's ability to create the sizes you need. I just end up having to rewrite or fix these to work the way I'd prefer. Some themes work without that much effort involved, but you never really know until after the purchase. Anekdot theme was one of these. Some of these still use TimThumb.php for all their image sizing and that's a php hit for every image. You don't always find that out until afterward too. Still, the price is decent enough to put a little extra time into getting them ready.

I have WooThemes and ElegantThemes. I don't think I've ever had the same issues with them.
