BUFFALO, N.Y. -- A New York law firm that specializes in foreclosures and was criticized for a Halloween party that mocked the homeless will close, a spokesman said Monday.

Steven J. Baum P.C., one of the largest-volume mortgage foreclosure firms in New York, filed notice of mass layoffs with the state Department of Labor and local officials, indicating at least a third of its employees would lose their jobs. On Monday, spokesman Earl Wells III confirmed the law firm would close altogether.

Sucks to be them given that there's not too many jobs to be found in the Buffalo NY area these days.



But I'm sure Baum's ex employees will be fine.

I won't defend the company because they may have done some illegal shit... but those girls are making fun of third party squatters and those people are scum.

The damage they cause, the money they cost and the time they steal ends up affecting everybody.

Those girls weren't making fun of the family where both owners lost their jobs and couldn't afford their mortgage. I can absolutely say that asset managers are sympathetic to those people.

They're not sympathetic to third party squatters, people that rip out appliances, copper wiring and do other expensive damage.

Cash for keys is a great example. So many times i've told an asset manager that the family is in a tough place and need more money or time. Very rarely were my requests, made through me by the homeowner, rejected.
