Piracy was a big part of its failure, but the much bigger reasons would be Sega's inability to secure good third party support, as well as the bad taste left in the mouth of anyone who was stupid enough to pay for a 32X, SegaCD, and to a lesser extent, the Saturn. (yes, I bought all three, but I didn't buy a Dreamcast.)

I've still got my Saturn too. It wasn't that bad of a system, but it didn't hold up too well against the Playstation, and after wasting money on their previous 2 systems that were basically abandoned by Sega very quickly, there was no way in hell I was going to shell out money for the Dreamcast, just to have them quit making games for it in a couple years.

I wish I would have kept all my old game systems instead of selling them. I would think some of them would be worth a few bucks now, ones like the Colecovision Adam, or my old Sega Master System.
