Listening to the news on tv right now and it says 25% of gay men who contract HIV are doing so on purpose... what the fuck?

you're not listening to what they're saying... a rolling stone article said "bug chasers" represent 25% of the new hiv patients every year. the stories on the news are calling them out for shit, bringinn in people who actually know to give actual numbers.

I have heard of HIV positive people advancing the virus on purpose by not taking meds in order to be classified as having AIDS (yes there is a difference) in order to qualify for SSI payments. But not trying to contract HIV. I am sorry, I have a HUGE problem believing one out of every four gay men are trying to catch HIV.

The article supposedly said NOT 25% of all gay men trying to get HIV but 25% of all gay men newly infected with HIV got infected on purpose. It's now being reported that those numbers are high but that it does happen. They had an HIV+ "bug chaser" on msnbc just a little while ago.
