Google vows to fight antipiracy bill even if passed

"Google has signaled that the company is prepared to oppose the major film and music companies as well as Congress and the president of the United States on a controversial bill designed to thwart online piracy."

Theres an adult only tld thats launching soon. They said by putting all adult material in a separate part of the web, away from everyone else, they could get rid of porns piracy.

There goes that idea.

get the feeling that forces are gathering for a big fight over copyright...

If the internet companies want to keep suppling pirate material and making money off it they will in the end kill the producers...

So in some way revenue has to find its way back to the producers, a tax on bandwidth, repression of pirate websites, it will be interesting to see if the genie can be put back in the box

They will kill the producer model as we know it. There's nothing to say that pirates won't eventually start producing their own content in order to one-up each other.

"Google seems to think it's above America's laws."
-- Michael O'Leary, MPAA exec

MPAA thinks the same http://yro.slashdot.org/story/02/07/...t-Cyber-Crimes

lthough the bill wouldn't allow copyright owners to alter or delete files on your machine, they would be allowed to DoS you in essentially any other way. Let me restate that: the MPAA and RIAA are asking that they be allowed to perform what would otherwise be federal and state criminal acts and civil torts, and you will have essentially no remedy against them under any laws of the United States.

Google likes double standards though this time I agree that this shit is ridiculous and silly. It's just another excuse to control freedom of speech. Fuck off US Government! Fuck off! You always want to do monopoly on world peace keeper position and to make choice for people! This is democracy? You must be kidding me, even China has more democracy than you. You are the ones who brake human's rights to privacy and freedom of speech in a first place.

or the clueless copyright holders could get their heads out of their asses

and innovate the "put your shit on the cassette tape" solution for this technlogy shift instead

hopefully it won't take them 14 years of bitching before they do it this time.

It's real funny to hear people talk about how the property of others should be theirs to easily access and use for free or even turn a profit off of.

Maybe the people that need to adapt or die are the ones that need to creat/produce or die.

Of course they oppose it. They are some of the worst copyright offenders themselves. Assistance in crime - on a daily basis hundreds of million times.
