No one wants war except Bush. He has pushed and pushed for war for so long that it would be embaressing for him if he doesn't actually do it.

Yep they admit that they're talking about weeks, not months. "Months is a banned word now."

I normally stay away from politics and religion, but I ask you this - If lets say nothing is done about Iraq and sometime in the future we have another attack on the United States half as horrific as 911, will everyone ask why didn't we follow through with dismantling a regime that has a top priority of taking out the most envied nation in the world? IMHO, more than likely yes. I am ex-military and have seen real world conflicts, nothing like WWI, Korea, WWII and Vietnam but I do know what its like to be hated by other 3rd world countries. I do know what its like to be shot at and have to return fire. War is never the 1st resort but is sometime necessary. Issues such as Korea can be handled more diplomatically. Just consider this, Iraq more than likely had something to do with 911 and unless stopped will probably be involved in terrorist actions against the US and its allies in the future. I do not want to see war, but I also feel when its time for war, peace keeping diplomacy only endangers the lives of our military that are there to protect our very way of life. I will leave you with a quote that I like to hand out at peace rallies
"It is the soldier, not the reporter who has given us the freedom of the press.
It is the soldier, not the poet, who has given us the freedom of speech.
It is the soldier, not the campus organizer, who gives us the freedom to demonstrate.
It is the soldier who salutes the flag, who serves beneath the flag, and whose coffin is draped by the flag, who allows the protester to burn the flag."
~Father Dennis Edward O'Brien, Sergeant, USMC

Sorry for the rant

Should of stick to it...

Your logic is as straight as Richard Simmons....

To prevent more terrorist attacks on the US, you could also take out France ( they have a lot of Muslims), the Philippines, Indonesia, hum ... Saudia Arabia, in fact invade the whole world.... Then it is all USA, ooops USW ( United Stated of World ).

Don't you think that even moderate Iraqui now living in the states will not feel anger and hatrid towards americans after you INVADE their country, take over their ressources, humiliate them by governing their country? Could they become the new terrorists....

How come, after having installed many dictators in many so called third world counties, you just can't just accept that there are many cultures and populations and thatr it os not all of them who wants to eat at McDonald's listening to the Backstreet boys...

In which way the invasion of Iraq by the US forces is any different that the INVASION of Koweit by the Iraqui forces????

What makes it a glory mission for the US ???

I agree that Sadam Hussein is not a pleasant and ideal head of State, but my neighboor is not either an ideal neighboor and I will not take over his house and try to kill him .... because of that.

The US population will be the hostage of this lousy cowboy foreign policy.

The most important countries ( population, economy) are against it: Russia, France, Germany, China.

Anyway, do your fucking war asap so I don't have to see and hear your "not really elected" president

directfiesta,

Since we are attacking logic, what exactly is yours? It?s easy to look the other way while evil regimes brew. Hell we did it back in the late 30's and early 40's and if you?re not familiar with what I am referring to, watch The History Channel for a few hours. Sorry, but if you turn your back to problems, they DON'T go away and normally it?s the US and Britain that have to clean up the mess. Get this straight, I DON'T want war, but I don't believe it?s in anyone?s best interest to let the issues get out of hand. I am also not the type of person that would turn my back while someone was assaulting my family..... Are you? So tell me again, what?s your logic?

What does Iraq has to do with 9/11??? No terrorist were from Iraq ( Saudia Arabia, Yemen, etc...).
In which way the destruction of Iraq and Sadam Hussein will prevent more terrorist attacks on the US???

Why in the first place was there a terrorist attack on the US. Probably because of lousy foreign policy.

Don't forget: Osama and his mens were the allies of the US againt the USSR. Sadam Hussein was the ally of the US ( and supplied by them nerve gas...) against the evil of the time, Iran .

That is also on History Channel...

What happened for the search of Osama Bin Laden???

Bush and Rumsfeld cannot find him, so we get these new targets ( axis of Evil, evildoers,etc...) to get the attention of the US population away by this failure. I remember Bush saying that he would "clean his floors" with the corpse of Osama Ben Laden....

The logic is that this policy will only create more hatrid against the US and its cirtizens ( saw in Pakistan....). Bush wants toi bully the world:

- If you are not with ius, you are against us....

What the fuck is that?? We have to adhere to the US ideology blindly? No way.

directfiesta,
I agree with some things you are saying, I'm not as jingoistic as you may think. To say Iraq had nothing to do with 911 is naive and to take the policy in Afghanistan out of it?s circa 1980's place in time is simply manipulating information to mislead people. BTW, a common tactic of the pacifist. I agree that past foreign policy has caused hatred for the "infidel" and the pursuit of our banishment from this planet. The fact of the matter is we are living in current times and have real time issues that must be dealt with, whether the means of resolve is diplomatic or a more hard-line approach. As for Bin Ladin, I think it?s a very good possibility he is in Iran. In not an advocate of invading every country that has a different belief system then our own. Iraq is not the poor innocent country you think it is, until the no fly zone was enforced over northern Iraq, Kurds were being slaughtered not for what they had done but who they were by their own countrymen and that order was given their President. Most the rest of the free world would classify this as genocide. Iraq is in pursuit of weapons of mass destruction and do you think they intend on using them towards neighboring countries? Of course not. Those weapons are intended for use abroad. I would love nothing more than a peaceful resolve and for there to be world peace and there to be no dependence on middle-eastern oil in the world but, that?s not our current state. It will take adjustment of foreign policy of MANY nations to change that.

Also just for the record, before the "War on Terrorism? terrorist attacks where almost as common in the daily news as the weather or traffic reports. So yes, I would say the efforts against terrorism have been very effective. Do I agree with an invasion of Iraq? Only if it can be quantified!

In the end I think we can agree on one thing....We agree to disagree! That?s just another great quality of the free world.

the world is at a crisis point, the inmates are running the asylum and it's time to put the inmates back where they belong.

America isn't perfect but it's still the greatest country on the face of the Earth. It is time for America to take care of business. And yes it would be nice if France was added to the Dubya's Axis of Evil.

Direct Fiesta are you French? Quebecois?
