advertisers always want you to believe that the before and after represent the benefits or costs of the thing the advertiser is trying to sell you. if you trust government advertisers more than any other "before/after" advertiser, thats your decision to make.

if those photos keep you from taking meth, that's a good thing, I suppose. I personally stopped trusting government advertising long ago.

however, your beliefs and fears will have little to no effect on the criminal marketplace for meth created by prohibition. the faces of meth campaign doesn't seem to have decreased demand.

Sorry, but meth, when it is abused, is one of the worst drugs out there. To attempt to shrug that campaign off as a scare tactic is frivolous.

Yes, they used the most extreme images, but anyone who has seen a meth head deteriorate in real life knows that those pics are not too far off the mark. When claims are made that meth "rots a person's soul", it is not a far fetched assertion or an exaggeration. The first use in that form hooks the majority of users completely.

Controlled substances that grow naturally do get my support, but it's the significantly processed unregulated drugs that do real damage to the human body.

once again this is foolish. presumably you didn't read your own link about phossy jaw, which is caused of course by white phosphorus, not the non-toxic red phosphorus which used to be used to make meth.

red phosporus is in the striker on every book of matches. you can eat it, it won't harm you in any quantity you are likely to want to eat. they know kids might chew matchbooks, they have to use a chemical that is close to harmless.

technically it is not addictive at all.

it is habit forming, but it does not cause true addiction in the way that tobacco, alcohol, opiates, barbituates, and many prescription drugs do.

people will choose to take it habitually, because it feels good and it counters the exhaustion that hits them when they stop taking it, but the body doesn't react to not having it the way the body does to truly addictive drugs. there is no withdrawal, no pains, anxiety, delerium tremens, or the other symptoms of addiction.

Meth truly is only habit forming? I'd find that hard to believe. I know from experience that I can smoke mary j all day for years on end and then go to another country for a month and not think about it once. Not a craving, no withdrawl, nothing.

It is just a bad habit, and as Plato once taught me -habits are a problem. I'd find it hard to believe that Meth is the same way, after seeing countless street walking meth heads and plenty of party hardy co conspirators from back in the day. That's not to say it's just a misguided assumption though. So if you take a multi-daily meth user and lock them in a room they won't go batshit crazy like a heroin addict would?

I've also heard that heroin is a "safe" drug etc. Where's the disconnect between safe drug and wasted life drug loser? What's the extra ingredient these people have that makes them race downhill so fast?

I know from experience that I can smoke mary j all day for years on end and then go to another country for a month and not think about it once. Not a craving, no withdrawl, nothing. It is just a bad habit, and as Plato once taught me -habits are a problem. I'd find it hard to believe that Meth is the same way, after seeing countless street walking meth heads and plenty of party hardy co conspirators from back in the day. That's not to say it's just a misguided assumption though. So if you take a multi-daily meth user and lock them in a room they won't go batshit crazy like a heroin addict would? I've also heard that heroin is a "safe" drug etc. Where's the disconnect between safe drug and wasted life drug loser?
