my ex's were the worst, they drove me nuts and their ignorance to anyone who thought differently then them was appalling.

My in-laws were great, both have died in 93 and 95, but they were better parents to me than my own parents were. I got lucky in that area, for sure, and I always knew it.

mine are good, they don't speak any english...so no problems so far..lol
although getting used to some of their customs took some doing.

In-laws are mostly fine. It's a few of my own family members I can't stand.

My girl's mother passed away 3 years ago. She was the only one in her family that I liked. The rest of them I can barely tolerate.

no, but an altercation dealing with a drunk father-in-law around our baby ended up with me breaking my hand.

long story shortened a bit i made a promise I would never kick her dads ass, there's a lot of issues in her family and her brother knocked him out for drunken behavior already, he made me promise to never lay a hand on him when he gets out of line, that he'll deal with it himself. Out of respect for my gf and her bro I ended up punching a wall after he woke my baby n started feeding her when she wasn't even hungry n throwing her around til she pukes. we lived at her parents for a month when this all happened, he's close-minded against anything, insults everything that's different than their way of life, that he doesn't understand and will follow you around picking everything a person does and does everything in his power to stop her n i from having control over our own family. He's doing this because he cant read and thinks i am out to take his girl away from him because I'm smart and can read. he gets violent and threatening in nature when drinking. we both decided not to buy house next door to them so he threw a huge fit went n got drunk n wouldn't let me even put my own 8 month old baby to sleep nor even hold her. kept taking her away n saying "is this what YOU want to do with/for her or what mom wants?" and if its not my gf's idea i cant do it, not allowed. i lost temper, my gf ripped into him n cussed him out, he grabbed her, lunged at me n i reminded him how he's only still standing because i allow him to get away with it and I'm not letting him fuck with me or my family anymore. punched a wall n walked away. we moved out 2 days later.

my own fault hand is broke but they have responsibility in the events that lead to it. i minded my own biz for 4 weeks n never ever said anything back to them.. had to blow at some point.

he doesnt get along with her bro n beat him most of his childhood but treated her like a princess. He cannot stand men in his life at all. he goes as far as to say he'll make sure my name is never on anything so he can protect his baby. we moved into town and never looked back, he's never allowed to see his granddaughter if he gets caught drunk around her again and he knows we put our foot down, not a damn word edgewise out of him since towards me or what decisions we make. his is OUR family unit, not his.

theres a lot more to story, since day my daughter was born its been her parents mission to make all her choices for her and ignore everything i say or do, even if my gf wanted me to. we are 31/32.. we can handle it ourselves n my kid will NOT grow up seeing what my gf seen growing up. period

My father-in-law is a former army colonel. At my second meeting with him, he was showing me his hunting weapons collection. It's all cool though, my in-laws are good people, same as my folks, i/we are very proud of them and we're really grateful for having them in our lives.

I'm sorry to hear that about your father-in-law, it's not the best situation, that's for sure. Have patience, protect your girl and maybe in time, things will get better and he'll change into a better person. Have confidence and be there for your girl, this is much more difficult for her than it is for you, don't forget that.

I could not stand my in laws during the first decade of my marriage which was fortunate since they felt the exact same way about me. As the years have gone by they mellowed significantly and I matured a little. After my father in law passed away my mother in law did a complete 180 on her attitude and we now get a long very well

and thats just it, it tears her a part but this is nothing new to her, she went through same thing with her bro. I just choose not to let it go as far. We have our distance now and it's helping. much more respectful of our wishes about what we decide for our daughter and he finally started talking to me again. They visit here under ou roof, i think that helps a lot. i still think it's all retarded tho lol
