Advice on mobile site please

We just detect for mobile devices and redirect to the mobile version on the same url. You can check out mrskin.com to see what I mean. If you are building for existing traffic then I would look at your analytics to decide what devices you want to support. If you are building something new (and most likely anyway once you see your stats) I would suggest just focussing on ipad, iphone and android to start.

m. or mobile.site name.com ... .mobi isn't going too far, much like .travel.

Most people will type in m. or mobile. before ever using .mobi.

Easier to organise files.

Billing with mobile SMS billing as first option Maybe no CC billing...

Different way off selling / each film separately....

Sam is right in that smart phone building is the way forward given that it is clearly the future. However from an ad network perspective we get sight of a lot of a heck of a lot of sites and traffic.

We serve our networks ads on mobile sites and our clients pay a CPC. Non smartphone (feature phone) makes up only around 10-15% of a sites traffic however it can make make up to 3 or 4 times more CPC.
This is because for those with the ability to convert this traffic (i.e with a one click billing solution) it is very valuable as the ratios are mental.

i would say dont discard the idea of building for feature phones if you intend to have a paid for product or if you nintend to run ads as the conversion are much higher.
