US Authorities Start Arresting Those Indicted In Black Friday Coup

The man hunt begins!!!

http://www.tightpoker.com/news/us-au...day-coup-2443/

"The US federal government has nabbed Ira Rubin, one of the 11 people associated with the world?s largest online poker rooms Full Tilt Poker, PokerStars, and Absolute Poker who are indicted with multiple crimes such as money laundering, illegal online gambling, and bank fraud, among others. Rubin was arrested in Guatemala...."

To me the US is spending millions of dollars on the chance of getting a return of $3 billion. Who is gambling now? Why not just collect a steady stream of tax dollars on online poker, like many other countries do every day? Would be nice to have a brick and mortar card room right now i bet there are a lot of people needing a fix!

The domestic gambling industry, which includes the government itself (many states rely on gambling for revenue; operate lotteries, etc), seeks to protect their turf and isn't ready for on-line gambling yet - still a lot of issues to iron out / backroom deals to negotiate... probably in 10-15 years legal on-line gambling will finally become available in the U.S.

I see your point is a massive population with many people with a lot of fat fingers in a lot of pies! I guess most a large amount of people can jump on a plane to Vegas for the weekend and if you could play at home most wouldn't want to make all the extra effort and would rather veg at home.

Maybe its illegal because there is no way to keep online gaming honest.

Gaming hurts society and the economic gains are always outstripped by the economic losses.

People are free to use their money the way they want. If they want to gamble, that is their right...

If people want to do drugs all day, then I personally consider that a stupid thing to do but it's their life. As long as they don't cause damage to another human being or his property, they can do whatever they want.

Drugs, gambling you only hurt yourself.

Bombs, and child porn are hurting other people.

Prostitution is win/win.

I wonder if they are going to arrest Phil Ivey, Howard Letterer and all the other big wig poker players who have a large stake in Full Tilt, and others who have stake in poker stars.
