and yeah only a Madrid fan would go on and on about them winning the Champions league 8 times .. because in all reality that never happened ..

the Champions League was only introduced in 1992 .. before that it was just the "European Cup" wich Real Madrid indeed won several times .. but most football historians will tell you that is not really relevant as back then there were not really that many teams competing ..

Madrid has won 3 "real" Champions League cups all the rest was just sillyness .. just look at the teams they had to beat to get to the final in all those European Cup wins in the 50's - 60's

Angus McBagpipe 04-28-2011 08:42 AM

Damn, now I want the World Cup to roll around again!

that's like saying that the boston celtics early nba titles don't count or ucla's ncaa titles because the game and league has changed.

sounds like simple hate coming from you.

its not hate if you know the history of Spain :winkwink:

In 1943, Barcelona faced rivals Real Madrid in the semi-finals of Copa del Generalísimo. Their first match at Les Corts was won by Barcelona 3–0. Before the second leg, Barcelona's players had a changing room visit from Franco's director of state security. He "reminded" them that they were only playing due to the "generosity of the regime". Real Madrid dominated the match, winning 11–1.[19] Despite the difficult political situation, CF Barcelona enjoyed considerable success during the 1940s and 1950s. In 1945, with Josep Samitier as managers and players like César, Ramallets, and Velasco, they won La Liga for the first time since 1929. They added to this total in 1948 and again in 1949. They also won the first Copa Latina that year. In June 1950, Barcelona signed Ladislao Kubala, who was to be an influential figure at the club

After Franco's rule Barcelona began to play good again .. changed their name and club colors to the original .. all the wins Mardid had in the 50 - 60 was because of Franco .. just saying ..

Thanks for another lesson. I majored in Spanish and studied Spanish history at the University of Madrid.

a. So they threw that game due to pressure but then "Despite the difficult political situation, CF Barcelona enjoyed considerable success during the 1940s and 1950s."?

b. What does that have to do with Madrid beating the rest of Europe?

This is the most I've argued about sports in over a decade. Back to work after this post. It's been fun. Hopefully they can play 11 on 11 next week and let the best team win. It may very well be Barca. I love David Villa and who can say anything bad about Messi?

a.yes despite all the pressure they were still able to perfrom somewhat consistent/ good.. but withouth the pressure THEY WOULD HAVE EVEN PERFORMED better is the point

b.the European Cup was only the WINNER of the National league .... and if you cant win the national league because Franco only allows Madrid to win ... .. get the picture ?? you are a bit slow ...

when Franco was in Charge Mardid won the league almost every year .. coincidence ? :1orglaugh:1orglaugh
but seeing that you are a Madrid fan I understand you will never be able to face the facts

i take it back what i said
i saw a replay today that clearly shows pepe didn't even touch alves
It's really sad to see players acting that way

It's time for platini and the UEFA to add that video replay :2 cents:

LOL !! you believe this shit ??? hahahaha.. the real madrid boys clearly edited the whole thing to make it look like something else

look at where the video is from .. the official real mardid youtube channel.. just look at the other UNEDITED videos it is very clear he kicked him pretty hard .. and the way Alves spinned around was not his own energy doing that .. only a fool ( or a madrid fan) would claim otherwise

yeah ok, now look at it now recorded on live TV (not from an official RealM uploaded or whatever), you can clearly see alves pulling out and then acting like he just got his leg broken...

FYI: i was rooting for FCB, but that match was a disgrace to football all together.

Scott McD 04-29-2011 06:35 AM

I enjoy seeing Mourinho cry about play acting. His Porto side a few years ago were the biggest CHEATS i have ever seen.

They played us (Celtic) in the UEFA Cup final and from the 1st min to the last min, they just rolled around on the ground, time wasted, and basically just conned the ref to make sure they won the Cup.

So fuck him, it's nice to see him get a taste of his own medicine! :pimp

Here here!! Celtic would have won that night if they didn't cheat to get big Bobo sent off!

You're the only one in this thread acting like a 'fan' here. Everyone else is trying to discuss the calls and miss calls. You are talking about everything but...

if that would actually be the case then why do none of the "neutral" observers talk about how adebayor got away very easy ,,,?? he should have been red carded aswell .. he just smacks a barca player in the face .. why o why do none of these "neutral" observers talk about that ??? :1orglaugh

and yes I am a Barca fan , lol :thumbsup

xanadu 04-29-2011 09:15 AM

I got a season ticket for many years in Barcelona so i am totally objective lol

still I have to say it was a yellow card for dangerous play and not a red one.

On the other side though, Ramos and Diara should have been out from the first half and Pepe, well Pepe should be expelled from football forever. Just watch the this video:

It's nice to hear other people's rational input on the matter. I'm admittedly a Real Madrid fan, but I can also admit when my team get's lucky, outplayed or a bad call in there favor. In this case it's pretty clear they got the raw end of the deal.

Deputy Chief Command 04-30-2011 11:38 AM

Madrid is having a bad week ;) they just lost a home game against Zaragoza :1orglaugh:1orglaugh:1orglaugh:1orglaugh:1orglaugh

ps: I am not "hating" on Madrid. .. hating is only when you talk bad about a SUCCESSFUL something ....

Arton 04-30-2011 04:08 PM

Barca lost game too :)
4th game is coming and I hope that will be mighty, why?
Because Real needs to play more offensively if they want to get the Final.

yeah both ended up losing .. fourth game is tuesday ! go BARCAAAAAAA should not be too hard to avoid a 3-0 loss , if Barca scores one goal Madrid can forget about it

Deputy Chief Command 05-03-2011 01:39 PM

and you missed barcelona's defeat against real Sociedad the same day?

Sam - Mr. Skin 05-03-2011 07:02 PM

I'd say the ref did a good job in this one overall... and it was a draw, while Barca was playing with a 2-0 advantage at home.

UniqueD 05-04-2011 06:52 AM

Good match last night, was good to see a match between these 2 without as much diving and crying all over the field as there usually is

yeah but if you watched the game it should be clear Madrid is very lucky they did not lose 3 - 0 or 4 - 0

just look at these official UEFA.com stats :

Quote:

Barcelona Real Madrid
1 Goals scored 1
6 Attempts on target 1
4 Attempts off target 1
3 Corners 2
36' 35'' Possession (time) 20' 7''
64 Possession (%) 36
10 Fouls committed 31
1 Yellow cards 5
0 Red cards 0
so basically Madrid has one attempt on target and on off target .. 36% posession , committed 31 fouls and got 5 yellow cards ... looks like they were defending .. not attacking like they should have done

Barca even with the 2 - 0 in hand were still trying to score more goals wich the stats proof :2 cents::thumbsup
