I think there's a difference between being racist and using racist terminology (which AFAIK is the reason for the ban).
You can make fully 'racist' arguments and points, which can be part of a healthy discussion or debate, while still avoiding terms like "ape", which is extremely offensive and doesn't really add anything to a debate.
