    DLP TV?? Anyone have one?

Someone wants me to set up a computer/televsion for watching movies on
They're replacing a 62" projection televsion in a large room
I see tiger selling a 73" DLP for $1200 and was wanting to know if they're pretty good and if I can hook the computer all up to it for her and all of that

I know LCDs make great monitors, but do DLPs?

junk IMO. DLP was great about 5 years ago when no one had the money to buy an LCD or Plasma.

I have a 67" Samsung that uses a LED lamp that never burns out, produces no heat and uses very little electricity. Great TV, great picture, great price.

Many DLP's have pictures on par with lcd/plasma, but they are slowly dying simply because of their size. Instead of spending $1200 for that 73', I would just go with a 50' 1080p plasma or lcd, that dlp is going to be quite bulky and you're going to have to pay for a new lamp every two years. As far as hooking up your pc to it, you're going to need to check its specs to see if it offers a usb port.

I used to have DLP TV's however switched them out with LCD's over the last couple of years. DLP have great pictures however paying $300 every 2-3 years for a bulb got old real fast.

I would rather have a 50" 1080P 240hz TV than a larger DLP for the same money.

DLPs and Plasmas both suck. They are like watching tv through a glass window. With LCD the image is right there on the top of the screen and crystal clear.

LOTS of problems with DLP. They run very hot so the lamps don't last as long as you want them to. The fans seem quiet but are annoying when watching a movie. The vents get dirty after a while letting more heat build up, burning the lamp faster.

Video quality sucks too. The color black is very hard to get to look right without endless adjusting it and without giving up brightness of other parts of the image. Modern televisions have a fantastic high contrast ratio which you can never get on DLP. Also the color tends to suck; shades & gradients look bad, etc.

                  Don't buy it.
