Thats good stuff... I want to get like 10 of them :1orglaugh. I thought you said you had a CRT... I don't really know about LCD refresh rates, I'm sure its not the same as CRT's on your eyes. But I guarantee you if I had to look at a _CRT_ monitor that was less than 85hz for more than 20 minutes - it would be sitting on the curb within 30. |
What company actually make the DELL LCD's?
|
I don't but you MUST stay a arm's length from any monitor and take a 5 min break every hour. Period.
If not, your brain slowly nukes. But that may be good for adult BBS... |
damn! after reading these posts i gotta get me a LCD screen.
Im positive my 'panda-eyes' are due to staring at a shitty 15 inch monitor for 10 hours a fucking day........ seriously tho' i remember my girl tellin me that my eyes were soooo fucking dark, this was about 6 years ago - the exact same time i started abusing my eyeballs with a computer monitor for long periods... They've been darker than darth vaders crack ever since.. coincidence??? i reckon not. |
I found some on e-bay but they want 900 =[
|
Okay I finally got one of those bad boys and man it's fucking huge. My video card supports the DVI and D-Sub links but the install instructions say not to use both at the same time. May I ask which on I should use? The instructions give you no indication on which to choose. Also, what should I move the refresh rate too?
|
How do these LCD monitors compare to CRT in regards to detailed photoshop/video work?

Anyone else got a headache from reading all this???
|
Since reading this thread I've lowered my res from 1600x1200 to 1280x1024..
Probably should have done that a long time ago... |

That's my guess as well, for good measure, throw a rad filter on it as well.... but definitely give it a few days to adjust... |
If you go to GotApex, they frequently list lots of sales going on at Dell. This is on the front page middle.
"You can get the Dell 2000FP 20.1" 1600x1200 LCD monitor (the one leon and I both use) for $859.10 shipped." |

I don't get why a 19" LCD screen can only go up to 1280x1024?
Hmm, I want that dell monitor.. no idea where to get it in Australia though... |
Brujah,
What about the diff cords? |
:(
|
mine is big too...
|
bigger the better.
planning on some big Mac Cinema Displays. http://www.apple.com/displays/ high definition 23" http://www.apple.com/displays/acd23/ 'The Apple HD Cinema Display sports a 23-inch (viewable) thin film transistor (TFT) active-matrix liquid crystal display that supports an astonishing 1920 by 1200 pixel resolution. And it comes with an even more astonishing price: $1999' |
They had those in the new movie "How to lose a guy in 10 days." Kick ass movie BTW!

I wont work on any monitor with less than a 100 Hertz refresh....
I have a 20 inch ViewSonic running at 140 right now. It's far from new, so I would assume most new monitors/video cards are capable of 100 Hertz these days. |
wooo!
Bidding on one of these badboys now (Dell 2000FP 20.1") Hope I win :) |
