    UK broadband getting faster...

    Virgin media really have the class act in UK broadband. After a few weeks of moving home Ive finally got back online & just checked our upload speed, perfect for high quality onlline cam.



    Soon to have 100mb available with my new hub able to take up to 250mb

    The virgin business lines are slightly behind with only 20mb download & 1 n a bit upload, soon to convert the same, & still able to show a decent quality live cam line for viewers

                                                      Communications giant Fujitsu is to link up with a number of leading internet service providers (ISPs) to deliver next-generation broadband to the UK countryside.

                                                      The Japanese firm is linking up with Virgin Media, TalkTalk and Cisco to provide high-speed broadband to five million homes in rural Britain - with speeds of up to 1Gb in the pipeline.

                                                      Fujitsu aims to construct an open access wholesale broadband network, which will serve as an alternative to BT Openreach's fibre infrastructure.

                                                      The network will offer fibre-to-the-home services rather than using street cabinets, meaning the service could potentially offer up to 10Gb downloads in the future.

                                                      It will be constructed using both underground and overhead infrastructure, allowing public investment - in the form of Broadband Delivery UK grants - to be targeted at areas where broadband provision is poorest.

                                                      Communication Minister Ed Vaizey expressed delight that Fujitsu, Virgin Media, TalkTalk and Cisco share the government's vision on bringing super-fast broadband to rural Britain.

                                                      "The collaboration between these companies is exactly the sort of ambition and innovation the government wanted to stimulate by removing barriers to broadband rollout," he stated.

                                                      "Creating this super-fast broadband network will help improve the economic and social prospects of the homes and businesses where high-speed internet access remains just a dream."

I think, even the 100mb is only meant to be about 2mb upload... Im pushing nearly 5mb upload... Fantastic job to the virgin crew, im very pleased

                                                                                                                                                                          Fuck sakes. Recently had a pole fire on the street, which knocked out electric, TV, and internet. They came and "fixed" the internet, and this is what I ended up with. They'll be back tomorrow though, so hopefully it'll get figured.

                                                                                                                                                                                  I am willing to wager some "tech" will come to your house and right click my network places and investigate your tcp-ip settings. Rinse and repeat.

Especially if you give them a bit of food, and buy them a $2 bottle of Thai whiskey. Then they're excellent.
