Before GFY, I typically used one of two other nicks for all of my online stuff.
While I have been online since the beginning (bbs days), and in this industry since 1997, I did not really get involved on the industry boards until 2003. I simply lurked until around 2005 when I became more active, and then picked this handle based on the niche, and branding. No other reason.Comment

I used the name "Nickname" before but It got confusing so I switched to Nicky, don't know why I use either of em since my real name is Daniel lol. It's been too long to change now though.

While working for Coca Cola I developed a device that load tested vending machine circuit boards, I called it Vendzilla
It kinda stuck after thatCarbon is not the problem, it makes up 0.041% of our atmosphere , 95% of that is from Volcanos and decomposing plants and stuff. So people in the US are responsible for 13% of the carbon in the atmosphere which 95% is not from Humans, like cars and trucks and stuff and they want to spend trillions to fix it while Solar Panel plants are powered by coal plants

When I created my first aol account back in the days of dial up, I had problems finding a good screen name. I ended up with ilibarcodesili, aol used sans serif fonts and it looked like lllBARCODESlll. This sounds ridiculous now but back then I used to customize my aol profile, make it animate etc using aols butchered version of html. Everyone who did it had a cool, hackerish sounding name and that was mine. =D
I widdled it down to barcodes over time, I guess out of laziness? lolComment

When I created my company I tried to think of something that was easy to remember and would stick in your head. Sarah Designs sounded silly. Z is a very unique letter that does not have that many common names starting with it that I could think of. Zoo something was what I was trying to use. I've used sarettah since around 94 or 95. I needed a unique username for swbell I think it was and I had the word hatteras written on a nearby piece of paper so I typed it in backwards and have been using it since.
Little did I know that it is apparently a girls name in italian.

I built a site for a Playboy model back in 97, a bunch of us were in Vegas and she kept telling everyone what a wizard I was at building websites. We went to the Excalibur to shoot craps and there's a little wizard on the $100 chips named Wizzo, so she started calling me Wizzo along with everyone else and nicname just stuck.

I got the spaz nick because I ask a LOT of questions. sometimes one answer will lead to multiple questions and I tend to get excited about good things and upset about bad things... sometimes out of proportion. My nickname has been "Loki" since I was about 5 if I recall right, a family friend dubbed me that after the Norse god Loki It's a good and bad thing depending on how you look at it lol
