so i let my little dog play with big dogs all the time at the park, daily. bad idea?

not like all dogs off-leash chasing tail, but i never stop my 7 lb dog from greeting a big dog if he wants to. wondering if i should change this policy if just a simple accident like this can happen.

not sure what to take from it on that angle.

Well, to be honest I wouldn't normally let little dogs play with big dogs. This was an accident that they got together. I've had dogs of all sizes all my life and this is the first time I've seen or even heard of this happening.

My thinking, after speaking with the Vet, is that accidents happen. People fall on ski hills all the time with no real problems yet one out of every ten thousand, or hundred thousand or whatever breaks their back. Animals will be animals and when they interact anything CAN happen I suppose.

my little buddy is pretty good at spotting the tough dogs and avoiding them, it sounds like what happened here was a total freak accident. can't really live life trying to avoid the freak accident though eh.

My 19 years of BJJ training gives me the skills to control any and all one on one situation with the choice to not hurt or hospital stay my aggressor. Its a skill set i use for not getting sued or charged with assault.

If its more than one, things get broke really fast with the efficiency of a skilled surgeon. (it has happened, and i was way justified)

But a big dog like Brutus makes for a great deterrent. He is way better than a gun, because people will think twice before getting up to no good on my property. One wrong move with a gun, jail time for me. Fuck that!!

            Agreed

Warchild sounds like a good and responsible dog owner. He is good enough to share a story with GFY and it seems that people did not read his post with a complete understanding of what happened.

It was an accident people. Thats all. Warchild is a dog lover, not a dog fighter. Dog lovers don't like to see harm to any dogs, not just his own.

I take my dog out on walks all the time and people let there little yappers come up to my dog off leash all of the time and im always pulling my dogs leash hard. Not because my dog will eat or tear into the other dog, but in fear that my 145lbs dog will step on and snap the little dogs neck. This happens one to 3 times a week.

My dog jumps up and down when he gets excited, one wrong jump and landing, I will be posting on how my dog accidentally killed another dog.

My new neighbors have a Pitt and another big ass dog. I'll be moving a family with 2 young kids (3 and 4) to the house and i've seen him let them loose in the neighborhood, no leash.

When i've slept there, they are always the wake up alarm. Try to sleep at the wrong time and a bark keeps you awake. If you know Vegas, these home are way too close to each other with walls that make things louder!

They go nuts if you even walk into the back yard or if I even walk out into my driveway. If the neighbors leave, expect barking every 20 minutes. I was cleaning rocks the other day and they went ballistic, barking, charging, and mock attacks. I lost it and beamed one in the nose and they stopped. Stupid I know, might only make them more vicious.

People say, just talk to the guy. Anyone who keeps these beasts aint a reasonable person. I'll end up filing complaints with the HOA, animal control and maybe get a lawyer.

I'm pretty sure we'll end up just moving. sucks cause we just bought the house.

Sorry... Don't care what kind of dog you have, if it's killed another dog it needs to be put to sleep. If my dog killed another dog, I'd have it put down so fast it wouldn't be funny.

We had an incident with at the local dog park where one dog killed another dog. It was a Rottweiler that did the killing, the dog and it's owner is banned from all city parts.

It is always the same------- Pit bulls and Rottweilers attacking other dogs and people.

Seen it for 10 years. It never changes.

The pit bull by far is the absolute worst. The rottweilers are second but way way
behind the pit bull. Then comes German shepherds, but way way behind Rotts.

Either there is a problem with the dogs or there is a problem with the type of
                      people who own these dogs.

                      I thinks the problem is both;
because everybody can buy a leash and/or muzzle.
You're right man on all counts. Those breeds are aggressive. That's how they are bred so people should not expect otherwise.

Accidents happen. This was not a dog attack it was an accident pure and simple.

                        Fortunately we're free to disagree.

I consider Warchild my greatest convert to BJJ. Look up the most vicious ill tempered dogs and you'll find the dachshund at number one. Conversely, WTF was the multiopoo owner doing not paying attention? It's like parents with kids and the internet blaming everyone but themselves when they find tranny scat films in the browser history.

dogs like rottweilers, doberman, pit-bulls etc scare the shit out of me. the other day i was walking on the santa monica pier and a woman and her bf were walking their gigantic pit-bull behind me, it was in a harnass, but i tell you, she had no control of it even normal walking...
to me a dog like that is a deadly weapon, and a license should be required.
