My 2 years are up for my BlackBerry Storm and it's time for an upgrade and was wondering about the Thunderbolt, it looks to be the most powerful droid phone out there right now and wanted to see if anyone has one yet and what you think of it, whats the battery life like, how fast is the internet, multiple email accounts, that kind of thing?
Anyone using the Thunderbolt by htc phone?

Anyone using the Thunderbolt by htc phone?
Carbon is not the problem, it makes up 0.041% of our atmosphere , 95% of that is from Volcanos and decomposing plants and stuff. So people in the US are responsible for 13% of the carbon in the atmosphere which 95% is not from Humans, like cars and trucks and stuff and they want to spend trillions to fix it while Solar Panel plants are powered by coal plants

i've been spending quite a bit of time on this recently and decided to pass on the thunderbolt. main reason is the battery drain while in 4g is obscene, verizon even released a new fatter battery and back to help deal with this. the tb also does not have a dual core chip :-(
also re: os, i can't really find any phone other than google's that is running gingerbread now.
the 2 phones i have narrowed it down to are the atrix and the upcoming droid bionic.
i am going with the droid bionic, release date ~april 17th, this should be THE phone, at least for a yearish. iphone5 looks good but smaller screen.

Last week I went to Verizon and tried it out along w/ some other phones. Personally, it felt a little too flimsy and was too big for what I wanted...not to mention, there really isn't too much 4G coverage out there (the sales guy even admitted it). I opted for a Droid phone instead.Comment

Yeah, now that I'm in LA again, I get to have 4g and I'm looking forward to abusing itLast week I went to Verizon and tried it out along w/ some other phones. I have the Thunderbolt, just got it a few days ago.
Battery drain is crazy, I'm going to return it. It did not stay charged throughout the night while I was sleeping, when I woke up it was dead already.
Charging takes FOREVER --- like 8 hours or maybe even more on USB/PC. Wall outlet is quicker though it looks like.
Otherwise its fine, screen looks goodLast edited by TidalWave; 03-30-2011, 10:14 AM.Comment

Let me be the first to caution you about buying a Motorola Android based phone.
You stated that it will get the 2.3 update when it is released. Well, having been a user of Android phones (3 Motorolas) I can honestly tell you that you will be the LAST to get an update. Motorola is well known for taking a shitload of time to update because of their Motoblur bullshit. It is basically a ton of crap that has to be worked into the update and it takes them about 4 months to 8 months to do it. When it is done, it works like shit and is full of bugs. I have had to put up with this on three separate Motorola phones. It happened like this on every one of them and on every new update.
If you think the TB has a battery drain, try using a Motorola Blur phone... It has so many bullshit things running that it NEEDS 512mb of memory just to handle it all. Imagine your browser with 5 toolbars and your system with every spyware app in the porn-sphere on it... That is what it is like having a Motoblur phone. Facebook always pulling updates and you cannot turn it off. Weather app doing it to and you cannot uninstall it. Now multiply that by 10 because that is how many apps they add with that shitty Motoblur. All of them draining the battery and taking up space...
I have also used 2 HTC phones, the G1 and now the G2. Both are released with very little extras included. This has turned out to be a plus because the battery lasts longer and the phone is faster without all of the bullshit added on top of the operating system.
Oh, and dual core is not going to be that big of a deal unless you are using games with insane graphics draws... Otherwise the TB will seem just as fast as a dual core for normal shit most people do. And can you say, battery drain?Comment

I just got the HTC Inspire after playing with that and the Atrix side by side for about half an hour. Better camera and build quality but it lacks a video output which may be a deal breaker for some.Comment

Calabasas is a real nice place, Granada Hills is OK, I live with a buddy I've known for a long time. I'm getting to know where all the stripper bars are and spending time learning how to work on Harley's as I'm going to build myself one.Carbon is not the problem, it makes up 0.041% of our atmosphere , 95% of that is from Volcanos and decomposing plants and stuff. this is good stuff, my one last issue re: a purchase decision is the motoblur. but isn't the htc SENSE just as shitty? but also, i've read it's harder to clear out motoblur off a motorola phone since they lock down the launcher and all? i have seen a vanilla android os for the droid x though.Let me be the first to caution you about buying a Motorola Android based phone.

that being said, i don't see how it's easy to get around either skin...... thoughts?Comment

Get a Droid Incredible or even a Droid 1. As far as updates... I don't wait for updates because I rooted my phone as soon as I got it.
I am running Bugless Beast with a 1Ghz Kernel on my Droid 1 and never have any problems with battery life or space or anything... Unless I am talking on the phone all day the battery usually lasts 2 days.
I don't run alot of widgets and bullshit like that, either. It makes a huge difference in battery life.
I have 10 apps on the market... so I know a little about Android.Comment
