Need suggestions for AMSTERDAM... Anyone know it really well?

I actually lived there for 6 months, but that was a LONG LONG time ago, (like over 20 years), and since then I have only been there sporadically, the last time about 5 years ago.

I need the following list of stuff please, (price no object):

Top 3 hotels....

Top 3 restaurants...

Top 3 place to take someone that had never been there, in your opinion...

Darling, I know Amsterdam pretty well, been there about 12 times in 3 years and walked the city many times over. Instead of a hotel, I recommend you opt for an apartment or houseboat. A lot more privacy, access to a full kitchen that you can stock with the amazing NL produce, gives you much more options for late night munchies (or in your case, cravings) when food options dwindle to nothing after 1am.

As far as food goes, it's hard to go wrong there. You definitely want to experience a rijsttafel, or Indonesian rice table, where you get a ton of small dishes brought out to hot plates you have at the table.

For fine dining, I have to recommend Fifteen, the OnlyTease folks introduced me to that place and it was a great experience. Be prepared to spend a few hours there since they take you through several courses. The Sea Palace Floating restaurant is pretty good too, but they have a Chinese area right off the Red Light District that offers great eats as well. If you can find the Mongolian restaurant in that Chinese section, definitely get their medicinal tea, it will be the best tea you've ever tasted in your life.

The Krasnapolsky is a great hotel downtown, not sure how top 3 it is.As for restaurants been to several great ones, but beauty is in the eye of the beholder

the number one best restaurant in Amsterdam is called FEBO! original dutch food that the locals love

most of the restaurants in Amsterdam are tourist only places .. with high prices .. FEBO is not ! is the best of the best that Amsterdam has to offer ... dont believe me ? ask any local about FEBO .. it is the best .. owh I wish I was in holland right now .. could do with some FEBO .. lol

I almost puked walking by....it doesn't look good to say the least, nothing I would eat that's for sure...Fifteen is an awesome restaurant. Other then that not many good places to eat in Amsterdam, it was never known for the fine cuisine.

arent you jewish or something ? or from Israel ? Dont know why I think that .. but if that is the case I understand you resent FEBO as it is not exactly kosher ..

they have some good cheese soufles though .. and even some of my vegetarian friends love those!

Deputy Chief Command well to be honest FEBO ( Ferdinand Bol ) the street where the first FEBO started is horrible food but heh when I was young and a daredevil I did eat a lot of kroketten there mostly after visiting a bar/cafe/club, mainly because it was the only place open in the area where I lived.
Now adays I am a little older and try to eat food that is fit for human consumption

kaassouflees are indeed not bad, when not mistaken both me and boneless did eat at Febo last year once on our way to the trainstation during the Webmaster Access.

The best hotel I stayed in was http://www.leurope.nl/

the 2nd best was called the bilderberg garden hotel just outside the main part of the city ( not a 5 star hotel but in a great quiet and clean location with amazing service)

There is also the hotel Pulitzer that is very nice
