![]() I think we are in for one great "coming out" party and will be seeing who was behind the scenes really supporting .XXX sTLD while telling everybody they didn't. Let's see who is appointed to the IFFOR board...... Who was promised and didn't get it....... I think a many promises have been made.
I'd be watching for ICM to ramp up their publicity machine and make presentations to the online community at every industry event in the near future selling their service. I'd fully expect to see ads starting in AVN, Xbiz, ETO, and any other publication that is read by adult webmasters. I doubt it will be a soft sell approach. In reality, the ICANN decision is just the next step in a process that is a long way from over. Now that our industry is no longer constrained by the ICANN process, many additional options have become available. We shall see what the future will bring. Today, the sun will rise, we will go to work, and money will be made. I would expect that over the next month or so, decisions will be made in consultation with industry leaders and members on what our next step might be. In the meantime, be strong, trademark your best domain names, and continue to support the efforts to stop online piracy. And, remember, the fight is not over until you surrender. No Fear, Just Knowledge. ![]() |

For starters, those who opposed .XXX need to reconsider their advertising with Xbiz, as Alec Helmy supported .XXX.
AVN never made an official comment on it, but their editorials leaned towards supporting .XXX. For everyone else, those who didn't make a statement, made a statement. Spend your advertising dollars accordingly. <reality> Everyone is lining up to buy as many .XXX domains as they can and the industry was fucked from the inside out. There were over 200k pre-orders. Expect a magical coupon from the FSC any time now where members can get discount .XXX domains. Other than that, no one gives a shit about who supported it and who didn't. Most people will buy them because everyone else is. Adapt or die and fuck over as many people as you can long the way. No matter what you do, you can't flunk, fail or cheat your way out of porn. Business as usual. </reality> |

At present I do not support the .XXX sTLD. There exist a number of issues that still need to be resolved before I would feel comfortable with it including (but not limited to) trademark recognition rights, parking rights, the promised uses of the registration fees, etc.) I will do the following and watch: the actions the GAC takes after being bitch slapped by the ICANN board, the appointment of the IFFOR board and their resulting policies, the counsel and advice of personal and industry attorneys, the position the Department of Commerce takes regarding the new .XXX domain, the renewal of the ICANN contract with the IANA that is coming up soon, the opinions, recommendations and actions of our industry leaders and the FSC Board, the effectiveness of ICM's advertising efforts to attract domain registrations, the opinions of our customers and the public in general, and a host of other factors........ The outcomes of all these issues will help me make a decision for my course of action when the time comes. Until then, I will patiently wait, observe, study and evaluate the opinions, the issues, and the facts. Ultimately, the right course of action will reveal itself. No Fear, Just Knowledge ![]() |

People who have real solid content sites will be found on any extension, even after a domain move.
Based on that logic, webmasters need not rush into anything for fear of losing what they have created.

Nothing will change. All domains will be bought by people who hope they will become worth a lot of money. They will just park their domains and nearly no one will actually put actual sites on the extention, so the extention will become useless just like .mobi. .eu etc.

I'm sure there will be some PR releases and industry-related announcements over the next month concerning .XXX from those involved both pro and con.
