how much mainstream publicity do you really think .xxx will get? i bet not much. all the news channels will talk about it a couple times for a couple of weeks maybe then its old news. its going to take a huge, and i mean massive marketing campaign just to let the average person know xxx is out there, let alone want to use it.
if i am totally wrong, then hey, it wouldn't be the first time. anyone out there who thinks .xxx will kill adult .com's is welcome to email me with what you want to sell, i may take it off your hands for rock bottom prices because i am a nice guy like that..:thumbsup

Its amazing how you think my argument is that ".xxx will kill .com's" when I have never said anything even close to that. I simply said this will not be the same as the release of .me, .us, .co etc... You seem to think it will be no different than all of the other tld's. I'm saying it is going to be different, some people WILL go to .xxx. I never said, nor do I think it will "kill" .com's. However, I think enough people will go to .xxx for porn related names that it gives it enough value that a lot of people (either .com owners, or domain speculators) will buy up a shit load of .xxx domains.
The media has already started: http://www.google.com/search?hl=&q=....aa1da5ed888593 and once the first .xxx domains go live they going to be all over it again.
Correct, very few people type in words today for .com's to see if something is on the domain, but when .xxx comes out people are going to be curious, there will be a lot of type in traffic for good and great keyword adult domains.
So what if it dies down after 6 months or so. So the 500K registrations that happened the first year, so what if only 250K of them renew the next. Either way its a huge win for asshole Lawley and a big loss for us. You guys can smoke on that optimism pipe all you want if it makes you feel better, but it is pretty easy to see how this is going to play out.
