ICQ 7.4 Forced Upgrade From 7.1 (Be Aware)
Hello All,
I seems to be a bit lost on this. This is what happend. I got a HD faillure and had to restored everting. When trying to install ICQ 7.1 from the installer in my archives i were forced to do a upgrade to version 7.4 So i did, and placed the old Messages.qdb (from backup) to the new location C:\Documents and Settings\UserName\My Documents\ICQ\11223344 And also the Owner.mdb is placed in there. While my history logs are very important to me, i am still unable to access it via ICQ. Anyone has a solution for this issue ? I dont mind to install another client like Miranda or anything to to see the old history, and starting over with the logs. Also donīt mind to pay for any software that does the trick. Does anyone have a workaround for this ? Any help is much apreciated. .Renaldo |

there is a plugin for miranda to import old icq history files, but it hasn't been updated in years, so honestly: no idea if it will work, but could always give it a try.

Well I dont know if my issue is related. I am still on version 6.5, but today it's telling me at log in that I have to upgrade to log in. So I click yes since I'm given zero option, and then the download appears to be happening, then it gets near done and says the download has failed.
In the past I've avoided upgrading from 6.5 very easily. It would download the upgrade file informing you that upon your *next* login, it would upgrade. So I'd let it download the file, go to the upgrade folder and delete the upgrade file. Easy. This time it's not acting the same, and as usual there's little to no information to be found. Anyone else forced to upgrade today or recently get the same error and find a fix?

trillian is pretty smooth, but the history is a little buggy... trying to look up stuff can be a pain in the ass..
my advice is don't be so dependent on message history. Your computer crashes and you lose it all anyway.. so type out an email of all your important contacts, mail it to your hotmail account and put little notes beside them describing some things about them and you will never lose that. Also helps if you have to look something up from a someone elses computer.
