Friend's younger brother found dead... Four Loko probable cause

My friend's 17 year old younger brother was discovered dead this morning with 4 empty cans of Four Loko. I'd expect the news to hop on this when its confirmed. Sad day to him and his family.

From what I remember of him he was EXTREMELY hyper and ADD. It wouldn't surprise me if he was on some very serious meds for his condition that contributed to it. Even so, for a 17 year old who probably doesn't have much of a tolerance, it could be more than enough.

It's very unfortunate that so many people abused 4lokos. While I am aware that they're absolutely awful for your body nothing really compares to 'em. Cheap (like $2.50 a can) and full of caffeine to get the night/party started. 4loko was only innovative in the sense that it raised the alcohol content to 12%, drinks like Joose and Vibe Max have been around for a while now but only contained 8-10% alcohol. I'm sure that they'll be back on the market soon enough under a new name.

P.S. Around here going 8 loko was a sure way to black out. I don't even know how that kid managed to get 4 of those things down.

I watched my alcoholic friends drink some of those, one passed out cold after just 1.5 4lokos at the theater and this guy is not a newbie drunk. Use with caution!

I guess I don't get it. So there's like 4-5 beers concentrated into one can with a bunch of caffeine. Is it the caffeine that kills people? It must not taste that bad if these kids can just slam them down quick enough to cause this. I've drank like 15 or more beers plus several jager bombs in a night and haven't died. Black out for sure though

Very sorry to hear about the young kid that died. That's horrible! I was watching a rerun of SNL this weekend with my daughter and wife and they were making fun of the drink. I made the comment that I would like to try it just to see what it does cause none of that stuff usually affects me much (red bull, 5 hour energy, monster), but my curiosity is definitely gone.
