What exactly was your role on the crew?

Have to be honest and say if I could shoot that level the last place I would be working is in porn. I know it pays more than porn. The guys who had the studio, in London, next to Steve Colby's were into shooting this stuff and stills of bands and they earned more than Steve and I combined and doubled.

One of their cameras cost more than the entire kit for both of us.

Don't bother trolling GFY for work if you can shoot that.

I dont just shoot porn. I shoot a lot of mainstream stuff. Lots of green screen promo stuff for mainstream and adult clients.

We also have 2 Danzig music Video shoots coming out that will be pretty good.

You need to keep things in prospective. Yes there is money in mainstream, but there is a lot less music video shoots with descent budgets than there are porn shoots. I got music video directors that we are friends with, wanting to get into porn because they don't work enough.

If you are going to make money, you need to be good at everything and have your hands in everything. Living in LA does give me that advantage, but keep in mind, this place is knee deep in talent. Fortunately for me, the best and brightest dont get into porn.

I've been told by a couple of people who know and have had Fabian work for them in the past that he has a bit of a "nervous" condition. And when he's prodded too hard (like on GFY) he has some sort of a nervous breakdown.

So his disappearance could very well be that. Though I'm sure when he returns he will brag again about how Manwin is as big as GM and he was busy with all their "properties" (you know...the paysites which he doesn't run day to day and the tubes which are run by a script)

Yes, that is a great vid that Dave did. And the editing is awesome too! Band and song kicks ass as well.

He showed it to me last week...and normally I would have just said "yeah, I watched it" (without really watching it lol) , but I really did take the time to watch it while we were on ICQ and a bunch of really cool stuff jumped out at me right away and had me asking questions on how to do some of those things I saw happening.

If it's resolved it's a go situation.

I never have and never will sign a contract as vague as this one. Fabian only needs to state exactly what is acceptable, satisfactory and quality.

If it's what the site already contains, which clearly does meet their standards. Then I have this in the bag.

The saddest part of that is the organisation behind that scene and many others.

According to Fabian and from what I know someone is in overall control of content. Someone came up with that idea, wrote that script and commissioned the scene, actors and whole thing. Who ever did it is clearly totally clueless about what porn is or should be.

Then when the scene was delivered it was put onto the site. WHY!!! is all I can ask. Wasting the cost of the shooting is one thing, but why didn't the editor go talk to someone and say it's about as exciting as watching paint dry. Why did the content guy just throw it up on the site?

I can't honor him with the title of content manager as he's clearly not able to manage content.

Is he some kid who just throws content up. Are the shooters to dim to see it's a waste of time, doesn't the editor bother to speak up?

Is it just 1 scene in a site with 1,000s of other good porn scenes? No it's not. There are other scenes, not quite as bad, but pretty bad.

After the initial shock of seeing something this bad. I asked myself. WHY is it so? And I have no logical answer.

He'll get an updated contract with most of the things he had a problem with removed, the rest will be explained to him.

The contract is also not vague, it's simply lawyer talk and/or a way to make it more flexible than saying the content has to be delivered by date X. I am getting it changed to date X now, and am explaining the section of lawyer talk to him.

On a different note.. it's hilarious to watch certain people here in this thread make fun of our content... And not doing so in a very logical manner, but instead doing so by calling people in our team they do not even know names... It is also rather funny to look at the comments and voting and such in for example the "St Buttricks Day" clip that paul said sucks so much.. 246 votes, avg 9.01; 88000 views.

Sure, say that our content sucks... but our members like what we give them, hard to argue against that one, so who cares how you think our content sucks....

The question of quality is one of cost...

As shown by the video clip that lasts a few minutes but takes a day and a lot of film technicians to do.

For low cost reality TV 20 minutes a day screen time
Documentary 10 minutes screen time per day
TV Drama 5 minutes screen time per day
Feature films 1 or 2 minutes or less per day
Commercials 30 seconds per day

Porn producers have found that the cheaper the better, more updates, Millions of videos etc..

Paul only wants to modify this fraction, he does not believe in books or training, when shooting for magazines the same approach was used , competent photography but nothing to compete with good photography.

So this competition if it ever happens willbe about nothing, I doubt if anyone will see the difference, between "bad porn" and "good porn".

It is interesting now that cameras are becoming better and better whether quality will improve, and whether high bit rate HD material would appeal to a paying audience. (the free stuff being low quality)

Yes, I think you said it all there. From the very start very few companies could afford to employ decent shooters. There was more money to be earned selling porn elsewhere. They simply couldn't offer enough money to tempt the good shooters.

It's like a Whale sending traffic to a site that doesn't convert or retain and getting 50% Rev share. He doesn't do it and good shooters are not working for the money custom paid. There was far greener pastures.

Yes I know there were sites with 10,000 members, there were also a ton of sites with 500.

Some sites could do a lot better for the same money. Updates that are just the same as what's on the site get boring after a while and the members are off to new pastures.

There are no books to teach how to shoot porn, there are books on photography but as you point out that's a small part of shooting porn. The large part is about models and knowing the niche.

You are really trying too hard to belittle what folks can make on the internet bro. That's just one piece of my puzzle. Money I'm able to pay directly to myself. Not pay a bunch of employees, etc. Just me. In my bank account.

Just wanted to point out that your theories on how an honest paysite can profit or not profit are not close to being correct.

So let's say 33% goes in affiliate payments. Then how many sites bore the cost of the processing so the affiliate got all the 50%.

Then there were the big Whales who weren't happy with 50%. 60% and more for those guys.

Then the tools, hosting support.

Then marketing to affiliates. What did it cost you to fly to LV for the show, stay in a hotel, eat and entertain people? Assuming you paid because someone paid.

You were telling us about the millions you made as an affiliate. The only reason you made millions was. MILLIONS were being paid out to affiliates. Every business needs to market it's product, but not to the cost this industry chose and not by giving away the product in huge amounts. What ever you say you're making Robbie. This business paid out far too little for the product. They thought so long as the traffic kept coming the income would as well. And kept that their number one priority. Only to be trumped by sites that today legally can afford to give away the product we used to sell.

The solution is no longer more traffic, what is? Long term nothing. For a few they will make some living from selling porn, for some there will be a living in Dating and Cams. Until they go the free route. And don't say they never will, we thought that about pre-recorded porn. Free Dating sites are already out there and it only needs someone to come up with a better formula to the My Free Cams to see that sector fall.

I keep asking, but you keep ignoring me. How about a pass to have a look at your site? I do know good porn when I see it and if you're right can write you a glowing report on the site.

Because a lot of people didn't diversify at the right time. And I don't mean "diversify" by leaving porn. I mean...I did a LOT of different things in this business. Had my hand in everything from freesites to hosting to a content company to a paysite. And I learned every bit of it from the ground up...not by paying people to do things (like Fabian's lame ass). So I have a built in synergy of things always working. Right now my focus is on social networking traffic...and it's paying off pretty well. Viral marketing as well.

Basically most people just don't have the skills it takes to survive. I'm pretty good and my income is only a fraction of what it was just 3 years ago. A lot of people who were real good at one thing only and didn't know much about other things...they are hurt bad.
