What makes Hal "free" and others not?
I have nothing against Hal, don't even know him, but come on. Somebody, somewhere is arguing that Hal isn't "free" because he uses the Internet to communicate. Another person in another land is arguing that Hal isn't "free" because he "needs" to have pink hair in order to express himself.

Well, the guy seems to be a good guy of course. But be aware that philosophy can drive you insane too. Words means dit, and words mean that. You can always look at every angle of a word and what it means to you and others. Sooner or later you see life as mechanical place because you like to figure everything out.
Been there, done that. What Hal describes is just kindness and showing that you care for other people.
I wouldn't say I love everyone I don't know. What I know is, that people are different, and are different things by nature. Speaking differently. Got different body language or none. I don't want to change people, I just want them to live and be happy, being who they are.
If somebody wants to give a hug to 100 strangers every year, then so be it, it's all good. As long as I don't have to be a part of the 100 hugs.
I also think hugs means very little. Showing that you care by words and speech means a lot more. That's true empathy for me. But sure, hugs are needed at times too, especially for people that goes through a hard time.Comment
