Almost nobody is going to buy the DVD. The only people who care about watching the movie are those on this board, and guaranteed, not a single person here is going to dish out $20 for Chris Mallick. We've all already downloaded our free copies off the torrents, and nobody else in the world gives a shit about seeing it, much less buying it.

More than likely, the DVD will get the same reaction as the movie theaters gave it. Store owners will just tell their staff, "This piece of shit movie is taking up valuable shelf space. Get rid of it!"

Two things go into making a movie.

                    1) You obviously have to make the movie.

                    2) You still need a budget of a few million to promote said movie.

Chris got ahead of himself and put all of his chips on making the movie. When it came time for promotion, the money was gone.

The sad part is that he worked in this industry and should have known better. If you don't have your own traffic what is the point of building a paysite? You need to have a steady influx of traffic. So if he didn't have a plan of attack on promotion then he is an idiot. He could have used indie channels like social media and the like. Then paid the nominal fee to have Luke or all three actors on the late night talk shows.

As far as I can tell he figured it'd just sell itself.

                        I rented it.

                        It wasn't bad.

I spoke to the guy who owns the video store about why it didn't do so well, he had a very simple and good point.

"It's a movie about porn, so you can't take a date/girlfriend or wife and you can't take the family."

That's most of the movie theater audience. Even if it was the greatest movie ever, it wouldn't do that well.

Good example, but that's just 1. It's not the norm.
