For christ's sake...when I was 19 I had been on my own for 3 years, owned a house, and was married to my first wife and raising an 8 year old stepson.

Here's reality: up until the last couple of pussified decades... a boy became a man between 13 and 17 (everbody matures a little differently). Girls became women about the same way.

Hell not that long ago in history...a 19 year old would be too "old" to marry!

Our society is coddling 18, 19, and 20 year olds and treating them like babies. They can't have a fucking drink. They can't gamble.

I can't even IMAGINE what it would be like to be an 18 year old man in 2011. Have a job. Own my own home. My own car. Have a wife and kid. And yet STILL not be able to have a fucking beer? lol

I don't drink, I hate it, makes me sick to smell it...... but if someone can go off to war and kill someone, they should damn well be allowed to have a beer if they want one.

First off...I'd have a fucking heart attack if it was my son wanting to become a woman. Who wouldn't? We all want our kids to become perfect little clones of what WE want them to be.

Having said that...once I step back and detach myself from a scenario where my emotions would be in charge and I put my logic into play: I would say that an 18 year old didn't just wake up one day when they were 18 and "decide" to become a woman. And my "reaction" as a parent would be irrelevant to what is going on within that 18 year old's mind.

In one breath scientists tell us that our brains are more adapted to learning when we are INFANTS than at any other time in our lives. Then they say we're not devolped by age 25? WTF?
