Fuck painting

Bought a new place and decided I'd paint the whole thing myself rather than get pros in for once. I think this is the closest I've come to real actual work in years. The pros make it look so effortless... I'm sweating like a motherfucker, covered in paint and my shoulders are fucking killing me from the last two days of ceiling painting. Oh and I have just found out I need to sand down all the skirting boards, window sills and doors before I paint them as they are too glossy for the new paint to stick too.

We don't have that here but I thought I'd save myself some cash and I wouldn't feel so bad about dropping close to 15k on plantation shutters. Also I work from home and it's not like I'd be able to get much done with painters here anyway. Fuck it I'll just do a bit at a time and work in between.

Painting is what wives, girlfriends and kids are for. The last time I remember painting a house was 1975. I have been outsourcing since then.

I just painted my basement last week, 9 hours straight.. I woke up the next day sore as fuck, could barely move.

well anyone wanting to paint themselves are probably trying to save money, meaning not having to buy a blower, compressor etc.

You can buy a paint gun for not much more than your rollers, paint heads, brushes, pans, etc etc. A cheap one that would work for painting a house for $70-80 no problem. That aside, every man should have an air compressor in the garage. If you don't have one, it's a worthwhile investment in the long run. You're still going to come up way cheaper than hiring painters to come in and do the exact same thing. It'll take you 1/4 of the time, and you can spend the rest of your day drinking beer while the paint dries.

What about all the over spray? Surely you have gotta tape and cover fucking everything which takes ages. And then when you want different walls different colours...

I don't think I would paint indoors with paint sprayer. Nothing wrong with a roller. I paint the inside of my house myself. The only thing that was a real bitch was taking down wallpaper.

Thats why you use an airless. Houses aren't painted with guns hooked to compressors. Airless guns are used, you could still get one for 100-125 tthat would work for painting here and there. They dont put out anyewhere near the overspraay, with a little use you can learn to keep the overspray off of what you dont want it on.

I'd get a job at McDonalds, actually work there, and give the money to a painter, before I ever painted again.

Not when it comes to painting. The last time I painted a house was when I got married to my first ex. We were going to have the reception at my parents house, IF I PAINTED THE ENTIRE INTERIOR.

The house was huge. Like 6 bedrooms, 3 baths, stairway. It sucked. I could not believe I did all that work just to get married.

After that, I either let the second wife do it, or I paid a girlfriend. I discovered that a lot of chicks like to paint, so I don't have a problem letting them have their way with my walls.

The only thing I don'y enjoy about it is where the wall meets the ceiling.

I really don't get what's so unplesant about the process. I guess women generally tend to be more enthused about the final product / fruit of their labor when it comes to wall color.
