0:49444 with Pimp Roll

I haven't really checked stats in a long time, a year or so as I've been out of the game. One of the sponsors that used to convert for me is Pimp Roll.

But for the last couple of months, the numbers show this:
Grand Totals: 109407 49444 5379 0 0:49444 $0.00

This is almost all from blog traffic, that are getting good SEO traffic... I guess I'm doing something very wrong lol

lol thanks man I need something to put on my wall then, I love awards!

What's funny is that across the network, traffic has actually increased over the last year - yet sales have dropped significantly. Hmmm

Good point, but this isn't a dog and traffic isn't down. Other programs till generate sales, I am expecting a drop - but a flat-line just gets me concerned.

I tried a BIG cam sponsor for 10 days a couple of weeks ago.

Sent them 500k clicks in 10 days, and only got 1 sale.

Trust me, they won the worse stats award.

hey Markul, that's a real long time to go without looking at stats man... How do you know the traffic is just as good or any good at all if your not even looking at conversions for that long? I'm not sure what you would expect without keeping an eye on things, sales have never been automatic in this industry--Even in the old days.

either way hit me up, we can go over your account and see what you can do to get some better numbers, may just need to try out a few different sites is all.

Anyone else having the same issue is of course invited to hit me or Ross up to investigate any drop in numbers. That is what we are here for ;)

If you get back in the biz make sure you are at least able to pull or redirect all new links from a sponsor in under an hour. Depending on how your blogs present any free content I wouldn't worry about text links to other sponsors appearing below the free content. Most of these sponsors have been placing urls on their content for years and getting free type-in traffic. They can't have it both ways. Besides you aren't their employee. If someone were converting 0:50,000 for me with good quality traffic I would have taken great pleasure in removing every single link of theirs somewhere around 40,000 clicks ago. It's not fun but look at it as helping out your fellow affiliates. If you don't pull links then the sponsor has no motivation to change because they still get all your hits either way for free.

I am going to pull text links to sites that aren't converting. I am talking to Glen on ICQ about the Pimp Roll content, and I have to say that I've always found Pimp Roll to be great and helpful people. That is still true.

It also turns out I'm sending traffic to a lot of ancient sites, so I need to find a way to redirect my links without having to edit every single blog post (as there are thousands of them).

Maybe there is a plugin that allows me to input some sort of link to link redirection. Anyone ever heard of something like that for wordpress?

Have a look at the robots.txt file for the sites you're promoting. I'm not sure when it happened, but PORN and the other 'all-in-one' sites now block robots on all pages carrying affiliate id's.

I wish I was able to convert pimproll better because I could have sent their many sites a lot of business over the last three years. I stopped pushing them years back and have always been around 1:6,000 ever since with what little I still send. That said some people seem to convert Pimproll well still and I have no personal or business issues with them other than poor conversions with my traffic. Them seem like good people otherwise in comparison to some others.

If you host these blogs I'd think you should be able to run some search and replace queries in order to change linkcodes. If you are staying with Pimproll then swapping sites and jleaving up content shouldn't be an issue with them at all. Maybe Fris or someone else heavily into blogs might know of a plugin or good method?

I would love to have a chat with you, see if I can give you some pointers in regards to our sites. I've helped a few people in your situation before. One guy was 1:7000, messaged me by chance and he is happily doing 1:2500 now. Yes still high, but in comparison to what he was then it's a great start. He is also tweaking more and more and still messages me once or twice a week.

Get in touch on icq or email if you have 10-15 mins to chat and see if we can get you doing better. Sometimes it just needs an outsider to notice some small things in your promotional methods and it makes a big difference.

When I hear about conversions like this 9 out of 10 times the webmaster is sending 100 hits each to all 400 of our sites. No marketing efforts whatsoever.

I was in a similar boat. My Pimproll conversions were blowing hard (cant remember exact ratio but it was around 1:3000 I think) in a niche where I usually do 1:600 with all my other main sponsors. Didn't make sense to me as I'm pretty good these days at knowing what will sell, and PR should have been just what my traffic was looking for. I was pretty much fed up with it though and was gonna drop em, which is what I usually do these days, but decided to hit up Ross instead. Ross found the ONE thing that I overlooked that was making their sites less appealing to my surfers. I made the switch and the conversions started increasing almost immediately.

Like Ross said sometimes you need a fresh look at your shit to figure out what could help. They've got way to many friggin sites to not have some kind of clue on what works and what doesn't

Thanks for the offer, Ross. I'm not doing much at the moment with new promotion of paysites since I am focusing on different areas due to the piracy situation but I will definitely keep you in mind if I start up again or need more sites to promote.

I never could understand this when you said it before. I understand that if the webmaster isn't actively selling the site then that might affect conversions but most affiliates in 2011 aren't promoting one sponsor. We promote many sponsors so we generally look at averages between sponsors and sites within a given niche. If our promotion techniques suck in general you would expect our overall stats to reflect that. And this guy has sent many thousands of hits so it's a rather large enough sample in my opinion.

Even if he is sending a hundred hits a day to each site, wy does that matter exactly? I have sites I send 30 hits a day to with consistent 1:300 ratios. They are niche sites and getting highly targeted traffic which is tough to get. There's no logical reason that I can think of to explain why 1,000 hits spread out over a month should convert worse than 1,000 of the same quality hits sent in one hour. The only thing I can think of is bots. What do you have in mind with this that I'm not seeing? It doesn't make sense to me so I'm really wondering what you know that I don't.

Thanks I'll keep that in mind

I'll just have a wordpress plugin developed where I can swap links as I please, then I can funnel traffic to sites that are converting better. My associate told me that's a days work, should have done that a long time ago haha

Well in this case I've sent 83672 uniques to Adult Video Planet the last year, so I'll say I belong to the 1/10 and I guess that's why I'm not converting. Your associate also told me that site isn't very good at converting.

I'll fix it with my link thing when it's built

I'd say that it's true that focusing your marketing (that's what I'm reading as his point) should generate more sales.

In this case I have sent a ton of traffic to the wrong site and then a tail of sites (where two has converted with good ratios).

But if I had two pay sites where one wasn't converting at all, and that affiliates were still stupid enough (that'd be me) to keep sending traffic. I'd direct it all to the good site and share the cut with the affiliates

Dave is referring to a different type of complaint we get often. In Markul's case it was simply the fact that he was sending, a decent amount of traffic, to sites that we no longer offer in some cases, such as adult video planet. So I've been working with Markul all day and have given him a list of solid sites that he can try out that i know will do better for him. I'm optimistic on this one that he will be getting better numbers very shortly even.

One thing I will add here is that not everyones sales methods are the same, people don't realize that someone with the same niche focused traffic and same style of blog can convert completely different from them based off of some of the simplest details. Some bloggers choose to keep their text shorter and to the point, some write longer posts in order to entice the surfer more. Some will use free price points when another is selling well with 9.99 trials. Some will link their thumb directly to the join and others will send it to a corresponding gallery first. Basically the variables are endless. So if you aren't converting as well as the guy beside you it's not always the programs fault, sometimes you just need to tweak what you are doing to get the numbers you need. Sometime you can't convert a site now matter what you do and have to move on.

Talking with us is definitely a good idea, as both me and Ross are up to our elbows in conversion numbers and site data all day around here so we can help point you in the right direction one way or another.

What a min, this thread was started about traffic being sent to a long discontinued product?

Sure your links still track but AVP is a relic of the past.
