Wait 6-12 months and there will be lots of them. Buy something like the Gallaxy Tab now and you will regret it.

I just bought the Samsung Galaxy tab for my wife. Got it thru T-Mobile which, I think, is the best company to get it from. It's just about the right size for carrying around. The iPad is too big for us and I could give a rat's ass about Apple anyway. It uses 4G and home wifi. The European version has the phone in it enabled, don't know why the US version doesn't. Lots of interesting apps and good battery life. My wife loves it, personally I am waiting for a bigger Android tablet. If you wait to buy a tablet, you will always be waiting. These devices, like all electronics have a shelf life of about 6 months before something even more fabulous comes along.

Skype works but not on the T-Mobile network, only on my home wifi.

Samsung Galaxy Tab is awesome, the rest of them are pretty average.

I bought mine from best buy and added it on to my data plan so I got it for 499 instead of 599 and then canceled it the next month and just use it off my wifi. |

I was waiting for the 10 inch ones, but got a Barnes and Noble Nook Color for Christmas.

Plugged it into my PC, ran a few batch scripts and it's a full on Android tablet for $250. It rivals the Galaxy Tab and costs half the price WITHOUT any contracts. I love it, and the 7 inches is actually perfect for everything that I do on it. Doesn't need a data plan. It only has Wifi, which is perfect for me as I have it set up to piggy back off of my Android phone wherever I am. You were able to manage rooting the Android phone, this is actually even easier. |

One other cool thing is the T-Mobile plan lets the Galaxy function as a hot spot for my netbook for no extra charge. Haven't tried it yet though.

I am enjoying the Galaxy Tab I bought last xmas.

I flashed it with a European rom and now I can drop my blackberry sim card in there and make phone calls with it & surf the 'net without signing up for a separate data plan. I like the 7inch size, not too big, not too small and I dont mind taking it wherever I go. I can stream movies from my laptop to the Tab using the AllShare app. sweet. Its great when i want to surf the 'net while in bed or on the couch. I am glad i didnt wait because the new tablets with Android Honeycomb seem to be taking forever to launch. It appears that the Tab will be able to run Honeycomb as well |

It's too early. I'd wait until the app marketplace has a matured a bit and the hardware is on its 2nd+ generation supporting the OS.... 12-16 months IMO.

+1 for Galaxy Tab. It's a real useful thing unlike castrated Apple rubbish.

I like the NookColor as well although there is no mic, cameras or bluetooth so making videocalls isnt possible on the NookColor as far as I know.

For videocalls I have been using fring, Tango, qik and skype (phone calls only) with the Tab and it works well. They aren't as smooth as Apple's Facetime but those apps do the job. |

The Motorola Xoom is the "real" tablet I've got my eyes on...for now, this Nook more than does the trick. What do you think about the 7 in size? I wasn't a fan until I got to really put one to use. I think it might be the perfect size, but now can't judge without using a 10 incher. |

The 10" tablet is what I would like, but you sacrifice portability of the 7". The larger tablet will replace my laptop and that's a plus.
