    is America #1?

    Here is a great clip from Bill Maher, a bit dated but still relevant

    There was a thread last week about America being number one in the world, that clips begs the question "number 1 in what exactly?"

    I am not trying to get down on my home country, there is still a ton of stuff to be proud of, I just think being proud a little quieter makes more sense about now

                          At least a few Americans are out there who can see that their leaders are really blowing the chance of a lifetime for them. No reason the US shouldn't genuinely kick ass at everything, instead of just claiming they do. Canada is no better really, we are just USA Lite after all...

                              in spite of myself I still think that America is the #1 country in the world (today at least). But we lack the motivation to do what is necessary to reach our potential again and lead...I am afraid that we will lose the dollar as the worlds reserve currency and then.... well.... shit

                                  #1 at blowing shit up (which understandably huge in world politics) is only going to carry the country for so long...

                                  They curious thing is that the United States actually made a huge leep in the UN's human development index last year. 9 spots up to #4. What exactly has improved in the US in the last year? Or is everywhere else just shitting the bed now? Hah. Canada used to consistently rank way above the states, we took a dive down to 8th spot from 4th in 2010. We can't even hold that stat against you now.
