Hmm, i was only 5 years old when it happened...
|
I was working in an insurance company near San Francisco. Someone got a call saying the shuttle had blown up, and we crowded into a conference room that had a TV to watch the news.
|
Haha, we're old.
|
I was a Junior in high school in Sarasota.

We watched it on TV. I was in second grade I think. It was awful! We all got sent home that day and I remember a lot of students were crying.

I was in high school. For the most part we had no classes that afternoon, and we all gathered in groups around TV sets in various classrooms and watched the news. It was stunning.

I was in third grade and I had been feeling ill. So, I was in the nurse's office and she has news radio on. They came on to say it happened and so I heard it before most of our school because they didn't have us watch it. I went back to my class and said what happened and the teacher called me an outright liar. Which, sticks with me because I knew I wasn't lying and was a goodie two shoes kid. So, there was no reason to think I would be lying. Then, the next day the jerk had to apologize to me in front of the class.
That was the day I decided I wanted to go to journalism school because I got a weird buzz out of breaking the story. My mom was a science teacher and had applied to be on the shuttle. So, I was also glad she hadn't made it. |
watching it live in school, won't forget that shock
