actually i think it's a problem that at least Elton John is quite old already, not that they are gay. too many children are born into poverty and abuse, if two gays adopt a child they do it cause they love children.

It's a fucked society we live in that wants to put a screen up so impressionable children won't see a picture of a stable, married homosexual couple holding a baby but an unwed teenage mothers don't just grace their magazine covers, they're prime time basic cable television stars

I'm not sure how long the practice of gays adopting has been going on but IMO there's only one thing to consider.

The welfare of the child as it grows into adulthood. School children can be very cruel. Any child being picked up from school by 2 same sex parents runs the risk of being ostracised, bullied or taunted at school.

In a perfect world it wouldn't happen. Tell that to the kid picked out because his adopted parents are gays.

What do you think is more detrimental to the well being of a child- growing up with parents that are gay, or growing up with no parents and feeling like no ones wants or loves you?

I think alot of kids in foster care, given the choice, would rather live with 2 dads that can love and support them then deal with a part time parents paid by the state.

I'm not being anti gay, I'm thinking about a child going to school and the taunts that child might get when 2 Dads or Mums, come to pick him/her up. I'm putting the child above the PC brigade.

In a lot of ways Paul is right. Eltons kid will be an different as he will go to private schools where its not weather you have 2 moms or 2 dads but how much money you have.

For a regular kid in a public school it will be hell.

At the same time I saw something on Discovery the other day saying that in one of the major cities they adopted kids by lesbians have a ZERO complaint level for domestic or child abuse so far.
