Advice On Set Up of A Mainstream "Widgets For Sale" Site?

One of my "models" wants to sell some jewelry and have her own site to do it on.

Apparently because I shoot porn and put it on the internet I am therefore an expert in selling jewelry on the internet. Who knew, right?

Anyway, she's actually pretty normal, for a girl. And surprisingly, she's selling about $1000/month of the stuff just from word of mouth.

She's pretty smart but she needs a set up where she can just log in to some CMS, upload a pic of the item, write a brief description, add a price, give it some number to determine it's order in the listings of inventory and hit submit. And then be able to go designate it as sold and it goes away. She's probably willing to pay for a custom site with a nice classy design.

Soooo, anyone have any advice for her/me on this thing? Site suggestions to use for research? Nice looking site design? Easy to use CMS? I can't imagine her needing any sort of merchant account but some sort of shopping cart service recommendations? Heck, there's probably a wordpress plug-in for a widget store, yes? Anything to make me look like I know what I'm doing so I can maybe finagle a BJ out of the deal? :-)

Seriously, if anyone has any advice I'd appreciate it.

    Thanks.

Sounds like Etzy is a good first step for her before she gets bogged down in building her own site... http://etzy.com/how_selling_works.php

I'm using Volusion for a small online store. It's a hosted solution and they also provide merchant services so they can get you up and running fast.

Also take a look at Shopify which offers a similar hosted e-commerce solution.

If she's selling $1000 a month word of mouth and ISN'T listed on Etsy...she's crazy.

There's no need to run a store if you've got a craft type item to sell. Etsy has most of the traffic and a easy to use setup.

                    Spend you some brain.
