those are cable tv shows, you would have to add Entourage then.
deadwood was great though..

network tv shows but not sitcoms?

The lists would be a LOT different pre-cable. Or even pre-2000.

The Dick Van Dyke Show.
M*A*S*H (Still love it on the History Channel)
The Mary Tyler Moore Show
Barnie Miller

My all time favourites:

Worst Jobs In History (I love everything that Tony Robinson does.)
Engineering An Empire

I haven't watched much TV in the last 30 years so forgive me...

Absolutley the Best

Keeping Up Appearances
Mrs. Bucket is the greatest. God, she makes everybody suffers.
Onslo is the funniest. Bet he never had a job ever in his life. But he's always reading. My wife has a brother, that from the description, he's Onslo on 24/7 pot.
She's so clueless her son Sheridan is so gay. Someday, we might get to see him.

Yeah, i quite like Frasier too. The show's style has a very British feel to it. It is the only american sitcom i can think of that is so close to the British style

I always have to laugh when lists of "the best ever" are exclusive to the last ten years

(One of my favorites in that vein, is VH1 doing shows on the greatest "One Hit Wonders" ever - that don't go back beyond the 80s

Arrested Development

Kids in the Hall

Six Feet Under

Married with Children
Chappelle Show
Unsolved Mysteries
the Jeffersons

Those are the ones that came to mind that I didn't see named. But there have been alot of good ones over the years.

I almost wanted to name Alf, but I haven't seen it in probably over 20 years. I don't know if I would find it as entertaining as an adult.

Kudos to Dvae for mentioning Columbo, god I love that show.

Best sitcom ever has got to goto Seinfeld, hands down. They ran forever, were consistently hilarious, and ended well before anyone wanted them to. The reruns have played constantly since the series ended, and for years afterwards still continued to get some of the best ratings on TV. Seinfeld was without question the best sitcom ever.

I never watched Heroes until recently, but wow was it ever well done, especially season 1.

Wow, me and one other person has mentioned The Wire. Some of you need to get the DVDs and see that. It's seriously the best thing I've ever seen, and I don't even have to think about it for a second.

Watching all 5 seasons of The Wire is something to do before you die. Put it on your bucket list bitches.

If this post has made one person watch The Wire, I've improved my Karma -- I just wish I could be you, so I can watch it again for the first time.

I really liked the first season of Spartacus: Blood and Sand, and the new Gods Of The Arena prequel looks like it is going to be pretty good too.

Got em all, haven't gotten around to watching them yet, maybe when I finish up with Heroes.

I've been trying to get into Weeds, but I dunno. It's not doing it for me so far. Is it plausible that the only reason for it's popularity is that it involves weed?

Its funny that you mentioned the only Network show in that as being cable. The others are cable.
