If you like to eat at that temple of culinary art and science known to mortals as Taco Bell, there's some serious BEEF going on in court over how much real beef there is in some of their offerings.

Actually, if the allegations are true... those would be some damn good tasting veggie tacos!

The words "seasoned beef" have become fighting words for a California woman suing Taco Bell for her claim that there's too little "beef" to merit labeling it as such.

The South Florida Sun Sentinel says the class-action suit alleges false advertising claims.

The lady is correct that Taco Bell should not be allowed to call something "beef" if it is mostly nothing but fillers and extenders, soy, and "anti-dusting agents"... whatever the fuck that is.

When you go to Starbucks and you want a soy substitute in your coffee, you specify soy... they give you soy. You know what you're getting.

When you buy furniture and it says it's made out of "bonded leather", that means it's a polyurethane or vinyl product mixed with a small percentage of leather fibers as a backing material. You know it's not leather. That's why they say it's not leather.

There's all kinds of laws that specify the consumer must know what they're buying. I'd say there are certainly laws being broken by Taco Bell labeling it's product as "beef". They should not be playing games with food, and misrepresenting what they're feeding you. A lot of people are going to be very pissed off by this story, myself included. I don't think I'll be eating there again.

One of my good buddies is a class action lawyer and all I can say about these types of suits is that there are only 2 real winners: 1 literal winner (the lawyer counting paper at the end of the process cuz of his "Lodestar method" payday) and 1 symbolic winner--The Public. While this might seem mercenary to some, some laws are written in such a way to allow for "private" Attorneys General to spend their time, resources, and effort to find corporate violators and correct some bad behavior.

ROFL! I can't believe some people expect to go to such an awesome shithole like taco bell and expect to get a gourmet meal. Taco Bell serves it's purpose and that is to evict the alcohol consumed the previous night by giving you a colon cleansing the likes you would only otherwise get if you ate off a taco stand in Tijuana.

It's a pretty tasty concoction, even if it is only 15% real beef.

If there was no meat in it whatsoever, and it was made from healthier ingredients, they could repackage the item as a vegetarian taco.

An "I can't believe it's not meat" ad campaign kind of thing.

I have eat taco bell all the time and never once has it given me any problems. Maybe it's the alcohol giving you the runs.

The FDA.. They are there to help businesses get the labelling they need. IMHO thats their sole function. Just try not to kill too many people, else they may have to actually come inspect your practices. And nobody wants that.

To me why stuff like this becomes a real issue ... food allergies. For example people who are allergic to Wheat/Gluten/Soy, Mexican is usually a pretty safe bet. Meat, cheese and a CORN tortilla and your safe.

When you order what you think is meat when you have a food allergy and are instead served something that is 15% meat and the rest is wheat, soy and other stuff, you end up having an allergic reaction. For some people this is very severe. Granted, most people with a food allergy are mostly stuck to eating at home/doing their research before hand and wouldn't likely eat at Taco Bell. But its still super miss leading. Considering Soy and wheat are in the top 8 food reactions this poses a problem for the public.

PS i have loved Taco bell a many drunken night but my Husband has food allergies so i have recently become more aware of how much "food" isn't really real food.

There was a lot more to it than just getting sued for their coffee being hot. The main reason you are even saying that is because PR people spent millions putting that idea into peoples heads so corporations would be harder to sue.
