    "xrumer" type spammers running brute force password bots too?

    noticed brute force password bot going on in a forum of mine, every minute an attempt on a user's account from a different proxy ip

    are the xrumer spammers taking a different approach and attempting to gain access to existing accounts now to presumably put spam in the profile or add posts from older trusted members?

              xrumer can do that if modded correctly.
              but no one would simply brute force normal users password just for backlink.
