well, thats debatable. writing proberbly developed in the middle east, counting could have developed anywhere but maths as a science owes its origins to europe and (again) the middle east.

looks pretty white to me http://inventors.about.com/cs/invent...tin_cooper.htm. there's others without checking that are wrong on that list too.

however its a fairly unfair comparison as a lot of the major inventions we all think about were invented in the days that black people throughout the world were very poorly, if at all educated. (edit: didn't realise you said this later on in the thread)

Dvae 01-10-2011 05:34 PM

This list is more myth than truth.

Try googling a few items, very few are close to being fact.

At least half are disputed on this page:

For what it's worth, that list is highly controversial. For example it's pretty much been established that a black man did not, in fact, invent the cell phone.

I also, at random, chose 'fountain pen' from the list, and the wikipedia page for fountain pen doesn't even mention William Purvis, the black man alleged to have invented it.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fountain_pen

I guess the issue is, black people HAVE been downtrodden in history, so is it morally right to falsify history, or at least distort and exaggerate black history, in order to instill much needed self-esteem in black people?
