The only reason we're in Oakland is because my girlfriend works in downtown Oakland and has a major disdain for long commute times and sitting in traffic.

If I had it my way we'd live in Walnut Creek or Tiburon. She sees those areas as "suburban" and wants to live in a more city like area.

She says I don't understand because my commute consists of going from the bed to my desk. Whatever. :)

There's only one black guy in the building, and he doesn't seem like the fried chicken or grape drink type. There's a few yuppies, an Asian guy who's the head of the HOA, a few elderly people, a few old hippies, and a few younger hippies.

Predictably there's lots of Toyota Prii and bicycles.

I'd have more luck bringing granola, beer, and weed.

Fight fire with fire. Go on craigslist to the "free" section and just get a bunch of worthless shit to leave in the hallway.

Actually, here's what I had in mind more specifically...

There's a Home Depot across the street, so the people who live here will go across the street and pick up remodeling crap and leave the carts in the elevator. At any one moment there might be anywhere from 5 to 10 shopping cars in the elevator. It's a large freight elevator that's meant to transport commercial vehicles. The building used to be an auto-manufacturing plant.

Anyway, I was thinking I should go across to the Home Depot and pick up about 50 shopping cars, and jam the elevator completely full of them.

Then maybe they'd cut the stupidity.

That's actually no joke. I was walking around through the main entrance of the building with my sunglasses on, went around the corner and nearly fell flat on my face because some dingbat left an office chair sitting there. It was far below my line of sight and I just didn't expect there to be anything in my way. Quite a surprise!
