anyone use paypal for daily life?

normally i only use paypal to buy things online, but i am increasingly fed up with bank of america, so i was considering just transferring funds to my paypal account after each deposit at BOA and living off my paypal debit card.

anyone do this? or use them for more than just paypal purchases online?

Don't transfer to much into your paypal, don't put anything in there you can't afford to live without.

I did it for almost a year, no trouble at all. I've put a shitload of money through their system and have never had a problem. That being said, yeah, I wouldn't keep a lot in there, you never know when the shit is gonna blow up on you.

They are not a bank. They can take your money... and, apparently, often do. I would never trust them with all of my accounts.

I'm a paypal retard. I didn't even know how to do instant payments until today because I screwed up something the other day buying a couple small sets from Charly.

I use my Paypal debit daily. The only problem I've had is that a few times I've gone to use it and it's been deactivated by their system because of some sort reason. Like I used it in 2 places within 15 minutes of each other.

I've been on the phone with them, and it seems to just be a bug in their system. They fix it right away, but since the support phone number isn't on the card...I've had to trek home and call to get it turned back on.

It hasn't happened in about a month...knock on wood.

Why not switch banks altogether?

I haven't had any problems with Wells Fargo. Been with them 18 months.

Yes, they are technically a bank. Your funds are FDIC insured.

I use my debit card as a regular bank card and have never had a problem. When they ask for information I give it to them. Only people trying to hide something will have a problem. A normal bank will ask for a lot of personal info and you'll give it to them. PayPal asks for the same thing. If you give them what they legally need you won't have problems.

I use them .You get a good interest rate, plus a ATM debit card. I also use Paypal, but never leave more than $ 1000.00 in the account.

I had used my paypal account for quite sometime without a hitch, got dialer payments etc for about a year. I decided to use it to sell some CD's on ebay. Turns out some of the material on the CD's was copyrighted and I had to refund all my money. So I refunded each of the 4 people who bought the CD's. Then I get an e-mail saying that I haden't send the merchandise from the auction. I didn't send it cause ebay told me not to send it and refund the money. Paypal, who is owned by ebay, told me that because I DIDN'T send the CD's, that my account had to be frozen.

A simple mishap over a collection of radio freestyles and whatnot cost me the couple hundred bucks that was in my paypal.

to epassporte all the way now.

never had a problem with wells fargo, i think they're alright. been with them for a few years now.

used to use paypal a lot, but their fees are high, and your money pretty much is at their disposal. i wish their dispute resolution wasn't so one-sided.

I usually have 1-2k on paypal. There's no point in taking 'em out.
The rates from $ to ? suck ass on paypal. Besides, I can do all my business related shopping with paypal. So I get money onpaypal from client.. and move it onwards.

Money is made to be spent.

So do the rates from US to Cdn.

You can always send yourself a MO with it though, for about $5-10.

Paypal is not FDIC insured. Paypal holds the money in your paypal account in a pooled account at an FDIC insured bank.

They are not FDIC insured. The banks they use to hold funds over night are on a pass-thru basis.

That means if the bank they use goes bust, each paypal account is insured for $100,000, but if PayPal itself goes bust, you are likely to have to stand in line with every other creditor and most likely wouldnt receive a preferential dividend.

Edited for typo

Paypal is part of eBay now. I'd say that the chances of them going bust are slim...but that's not to say it couldn't happen.

I used to do ALOT of business using paypal, a couple thousand a day was going through my acct, i even have a debit card i used to use daily!

There is an online racing game that when you win races you win virtual cash to buy parts and upgrade cars or whatever... I used to sell it on eBay and make maybe 400-500 a day!

Well one of my best customers (bought from me maybe 2 times a day for about 2 months) went and told paypal he never recieved anything!

I told paypal this is bullshit and i had emails to prove i was working fairly with him and had emails of him talking about what he did with the cash he had just bought, bla bla blah ...

Dont you know they wouldnt support me because i didnt have a tracking number for the goods?

I mean fine if it was one or 2 charges, but he bought from me maybe 40-50 times over 2 months!

Well needless to say now my paypal is negative $1300 and i refuse to willingly fill it.

Once in a while they find some cash in my bank account and they grab it, but ill never make a deposit to bring the balance back, and when it is eventually back i will manually cancel my services with them for good.

FUCK YOU PAYPAL!!!!

I had over 4,000 transactions under my name within a 4 month period, and now im gone!!!

Thanks for the seller protection!!!!
