I try not to take holidays too seriously.

I guess be happy for people being happy ...

I became indifferent to christmas (the gfy spellcheck thingy says I should capitalize the "c" in christmas, fuck that too) when I stopped believing in god, santa clause, the easter bunny and all other irrational things.

Since then when people ask me what I'm doing for christmas and I tell them "nothing" most of them get this "oh you poor guy" attitude, and when I try to explain that it's my choice to not participate a lot of them seem to think that I'm just covering up a sad and empty life and make it their mission that I have a "good christmas".

They just don't get it, and I've had to be an asshole about it a few times in the past just to get these people to stop trying to convert me into a "normal christmas person" like themselves, it's like they think I'm sick and they have to cure me. And then some get all hurt because I won't put my beliefs aside to accept theirs.


I've lost count of how many times I've been called a Grinch in my lifetime, I end up explaining that I'm not a Grinch, the Grinch wanted to steal christmas, I've come to the point where I just want it to fucking die.

Not everyone is "a christmas person" and the more you try to turn somebody into one the more they will resent it.
