recently had a run in with the law where i was in a car with a bunch of weed and was booked for possession with intent, i didnt say anything to the cop even though i was actually innocent of the crime. it was probably the best move i could have made because in the end without a lawyer or anything the charges were just dropped, they just had nothing to go on and i might have said something that they decided they wanted to look into and went ahead with it if i would have talked.
the point is, if youre at the station and youre being asked to give a statement, look the cop in the eye, tell him/her that you want them to write down everything they have on you, any witness statements and transcripts of what other people that were arrested said put it all in a nice bundle for you to look through it, you want the copp to take it to a prosecutor and tell them that it is the only evidence that can be used against you and only then after youve had the chance to look through it all would you answer his questions
the cop will look at you furious because whether he/she likes it or not, thats exactly what they would have to doComment

All you need to do is watch Cops and you can see how people talk themselves into trouble. Just keep your mouth shut and force them to do their job and find actual evidence against you.Comment

People just fuck up when they talk to the police. "I want a lawyer' should be the first thing that comes out of your mouth when a cop questions you, without question.Comment

Whenever taken into custody and questioned by the police (at least in the U.S.) you should invoke your right to remain silent. PERIOD!

this is beyond obvious. keep your yap shut, and call a lawyer. period. i always find it hilarious that these idiots in the first 48, cops etc all talk and talk to the cops. makes for good tv i guess. but holy fucking stupid.we'll miss you our friend. RIPComment

One time I was ticketed for a "rolling stop" meaning I stopped at the stop sign but the cop says I didnt. Just one of those hide behind the bushes write tickets all day scenarios.
So I'm pissed off and when the cop came to the window I said to the cop in disgust, "gimme a break!"----translated in tone to mean "wtf are you hiding in the bushes harrasing people for?"...
In court he made that sound like I had done something wrong and was asking for him to let me go anyway.
I learned my lesson that day about how cops can twist the meaning and intent of what you say.Comment
