There are more ways to torture someone than just beating them.

And sorry, but how to you knock out one tooth at a time with the butt end of a rifle?

The material is Public Domain, that means anyone in the world can do whatever they want with it. Under the law, no restrictions, ownership or inhibitions can be placed on public domain material. Manning is legally allowed to do whatever he wanted with the material and any attempt by anyone or any Government to inhibit the right to use public domain is in itself an offence.

Somebody should have shot him right away. Alive, he only attracts media attention.

It wasn't one tooth at a time. It was three or four teeth at a time. With a fucking rifle butt.

Putting someone in a fucking warm cell and feeding them three square meals a day isn't fucking torture. Not by a long shot. What the fuck do people really think happens when people are put in a jail cell when they are accused of a crime?

That material was not public domain. It was classified information. He did not produce it and thus did not own it.

How the fuck can people in our industry not know what public domain is? No wonder why we have fucking tube sites.

I was not going to respond to this thread, but that was too funny to let go. And as much as it may pain me to agree with Rochard, solitary confinement is hardly torture and is more than likely, protective custody more than anything else.

At least now I know how you got your name.

                  ..

                  AND JESSICA LYNCH !!!!!

According to MacGown however, "incidents such as teeth extraction and burning with a heated spoon did not happen. It is inconceivable that any such incidents could have occurred without them being discussed or being physically obvious."[72] News footage of MacGown and Pring taken at the time of their release on March 5, showed no evidence of any facial injuries and the members were described as 'in good shape' by a Red Cross representative.[13]

They were last held at Abu Ghraib Prison before their release.
                  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bravo_Two_Zero

According to an interview given by MacGown in 2002, he came across the first soldier near a vehicle: "I brought up my trump card which was "mohaba" and he said nothing, and I carried on talking and he then made a dash for the vehicle. I shot him in the head. A single shot."[62] As more soldiers came out of the hut, MacGown aimed his rifle and fired but heard a click, indicating he was out of ammunition. It was apparent that Phillips had never reloaded the weapon after the initial contact on January 24.[63] For reasons unknown to MacGown, the soldiers did not return fire, but instead took him captive.
Now, if that would have been an Iraqi .... think he would still be alive ????

seemed pretty clear from the article that his being in solitary 23 hours a day is an issue. It was specifically outlawed at one point, but i suppose both "cruel" and "inhumane" are open to alot of opinion. Inhumane would be something not human and humans are capable of some pretty terrible shit , so nothing is inhumane. Cruelty is just a matter of opinion i suppose and i'm sure many wouldn't even agree its wrong to be "cruel" to prisoners. They are prisoners.

I think solitary for 23 hours a day is cruel but i also think treason is pretty cruel and not entirely against "convicted" prisoners being treated cruelly , although i think there are more usefull things for them to do and being cruel to them doesn't help us or teach/punish them.

Getting teeth knocked out? I have at least six shattered and since reconstructed teeth, and three permanently gone. Happened playing hockey. I considered that fun.

Althouth the lack of a blankey is a bitch, if I was in jail I would consider it a privilege to spend 23 hours a day segregated from the general population.

And - if I was a member of the Canadian military and leaked secret documents, I would consider myself a spy and fully expect to be executed for treason. But I'm not.

That really pretty much sums it up. I do not know of any military that wouldn't.

oh yea? says there he's been held in solitary confinement for 5 months, with no conviction.

that's an american citizen, soldier nonetheless, being tortured without so much as a conviction.

and if you 't want to say that SC is not torture, you'll be fine with locking your dog in a box for a week.

but, wasn't american soldiers tried for abusing those prison detainees because they followed 'unlawful orders'?

how is this manning character not following that example? the american military machine gunned children, and tried to cover it up
