It will soon be leaving the sphere of our Sun's influence and will not encounter another star's influence for 40,000 thousand years.

40,000 years without bumping into something would be impressive.

It's so cool. Voyager has a gold disc on it:

"Instructions, in symbolic language, explain the origin of the spacecraft and indicate how the record is to be played. The 115 images are encoded in analog form. The remainder of the record is in audio, designed to be played at 16-2/3 revolutions per minute. It contains the spoken greetings, beginning with Akkadian, which was spoken in Sumer about six thousand years ago, and ending with Wu, a modern Chinese dialect. Following the section on the sounds of Earth, there is an eclectic 90-minute selection of music, including both Eastern and Western classics and a variety of ethnic music."

Yes and please tithe to that religion because your existence beyond this one depends on it. You're the only ones that will move on to the next plane...

you know what? what the hell kind of abbreviation is You're compared to you are? one stinking space and I had to look to make sure I was pressing the correct key on the keyboard.. that is not an abbreviation at all, it's a prolongation.

Star Trek the Motion Picture was released in 1979 featured Voyager 6 which was entirely made up, It was written hastily based off an episode of Star Trek Phase II tv series which was scrapped in favor of a movie once Star Wars was released and became a hit.... so the writers envisioned a continued Voyager program (like Apollo had been) and did they best they could at the time.

I enjoy watching that version now that I am older alot of shit behind the scenes in that one.... most notable to me being that Micheal Eisner and Jeffrey Katzenberg were instrumental in getting this picture made (prior to them both being instrumental in the return on Disney Animated features in the late 80's early 90's, and Katzenberg's involvment with Dreamworks SKG).
If your into watching a very introspective and thought provoking movie, One of Gene Rodenberry's great influence has everything to do with how it reflects on society, this one may be for you...

Voyager, of cause, has the famous engraving of a naked couple on it, the male has his hand up in greeting. It has been said that if aliens do find Voyager, they will interpret this as a message of threatening intent as humans are the only earth creatures to use the hand up as a greeting, other animals take it as a "go away" message. It is possible that we have sent out a invitation to war into space!

We can detect Neptune size planets around other stars. I'm sure a alien society capable of traveling to Earth knows about us already.
