Police enter home on trumped charges, and execute puppies. - Dec 2010

Police violence during routine domestic visits are on the rise. Elderly citizens have been ?tazed? while attending their grandchildren?s quinceaneras and pets have been nonchalantly put down for barking while their masters are savagely beaten for demanding Constitutional rights.

In yet another example of this type of police brutality, officers serving a DWI warrant the day before the defendant was scheduled to appear at a court hearing regarding the charge entered the multifamily dwelling and immediately shot and killed the residents? three dogs, two of which were puppies only a few months old. Three bullets were fired into each of the canine?s heads, execution style. One was cowering under a table in an act of submission when he was neutralized.

After overstepping their [police] bounds, local media began reporting the warrant was related to a drug trafficking charge. Trumping up charges is a common tactic to garner community support for police brutality. The truth of the matter in this case is that the infraction was nothing more than misdemeanor possession of a personal amount of marijuana. Since there was no evidence beyond simple possession of the controlled substance, there was no reason for this type of extreme situation. In fact, the entire case was to be decided the very next morning, legally in a court of law.

But in a case like this, we can clearly see the reasons for extreme laws regarding minor league controlled substances like marijuana. These laws are a means to allow police jurisdiction over common citizens and to effectively strip them of their pesky rights.

Agencies like the Drug Task Force run by the Huntington Police Department are flushed with cash from the ?war on drugs? and desperate to justify their steep expenditures. Agencies can identify anyone as being a potential drug trafficker for simple possession. But here in the ?land of the free and home of the brave? this isn?t supposed to be the case.

Police need clear evidence in order to escalate a charge from misdemeanor possession to drug trafficking. Most major cities have completely decriminalized marijuana and have officially stopped targeting users who possess minor amounts of the substance altogether. Since the subject in question was only in possession of about 3 grams of marijuana which had been rolled into a blunt, it was clear this was meant for personal consumption and not intended for sale.

With an average cost of $10,400 for this type of raid, one has to consider the fiscal validity of an operation like this. Taxpayers? hard earned money is being squandered to bring petty crimes to justice in hopes they will turn into a better collar.

Between the ?war on drugs? and the ?war on terror? our rights are being eroded. In the name of catching drug dealers and terrorists we are giving up our most cherished rights. What is the real crime perpetrated here and who should be brought to justice? Illegal police tactics need to be investigated and if they are found to be unlawful the guilty parties should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.

SWAT raided my house a month or two ago. Apparently I was a suspect in a string of bank robberies yet I have a very minimal criminal history and no connection to the robberies what-so-ever. They followed me around for a WEEK and still thought I was this guy which is what led them to raid my house.

Fucking bullshit. Assholes left my house in shambles, door all fucked up, etc. I am still trying to find a good attorney to take my case.

Did they take anything as evidence? If yes, that's a sign you're probably still an active suspect.

It's common in many criminal cases for the authorities to investigate for many months before bring charges - suing them may get you nowhere unless the authorities acknowledge they made a mistake / had no reasonable cause to raid your house.

Since you mention having a criminal record, are you currently on parole?

If yes, that may weaken your legal position, since people under court supervision often have less legal rights / less leverage; the authorities can play the "He violated parole." card to justify their actions.

They only took my bongs, pipes, weed, etc. Nothing in relation to the case at all.

Their case on me fell apart as soon as they entered my house. IMO they know definitively that they had the wrong guy, I was told I was cleared as a suspect, though I know detectives lie.

They brought me back home, took me to neighbors houses to apologize and assure them I am not a criminal among other things. They finally fixed my door over a month later (I doubt they would have paid for the door if I was still considered a suspect). Though they didn't cover the full cost and I was still roughly $400 out of pocket.

I have never been on parole. Like I said I have a very minimal record, most of it originating from traffic violations.

It has made me hate law enforcement that much more. I am a young guy with a shaved head who has a nice house and nice cars, I am often harassed in my opinion as a result.

Anyway if anyone knows a good civil rights attorney in Arizona who may want to take my case please hit me up.

Courts dont just issue orders, they are asked to do so and they're supposed to have good reason to even ask. Isn't that right? SO how can we just blanket courts and call them the problem when a cop kills a dog in a citizens home, even if they have a warrant?

Which is fine in my opinion. They didn't find enough to hit me with any serious charges, simply personal use.

In my opinion they had no reason to be in my house in the first place but I am no lawyer so unsure how those situations work. They obviously had some sort of probable cause though since they were able to obtain a warrant.

A friend of mine has been a cop for over 5 years. At first it was very exciting for him to serve and protect the people while getting paid to do it.

Within a year, his mind was changed a lot. He would call me once a day and tell me stories and situations that makes you question what is wrong with people's heads.

All cops are stressed out, depressed, under paid, and get treated like shit from the majority of the public. The exciting days for them are gone faster than a few paychecks.

So why these things happen like shooting three dogs? As a cop working year after year dealing with 100 scumbags a day, you start to develop an instant accurate profile of most people you come in contact with. This profiling has common factors that all cops agree on. You need to have such skills or you will end up dead or mentally insane.

You have to take into account, there were more than one cop at the scene. Something happened that made the cops kill the puppies. What happened? No one knows for sure. But you can be confident if the cops did not have to shoot the puppies, they would not have done so. They were pushed to do it and there are at least a dozen scenarios I can think of which prompts cops to shoot a dog.

That puppy that was said "hiding under the table" could have been ready to attack the cops. Cops are not trained to combat animals, specially pit bulls.

SO how can we just blanket courts and call them the problem when a cop kills a dog in a citizens home, even if they have a warrant?
