I'm thinking it might be time for me to reintroduce my .GiveQMoney sTLD concept. A cleverly worded thread title might be enough to convince people that I already have approval from ICANN....

ThumbLord 12-10-2010 04:11 PM

good idea Quentin.
maybe you could also mentioning in the thread that the reintroduction of TL's TLD concept is in the working, as in TL will be the TLD for all people that like TL ( short for ThumbLords )
looks kewl I think, thumblords.tl

That's how it reads to me, too.

This is just delay.

It sure looked like a done deal going into the meeting this morning. As the earlier meetings were pretty one sided in my opinion, I was pleasantly surprised to see our arguments find footing and resonate with the ICANN Board.

GAC consultation is going to be a whole new process which has not yet been formulated.

As the sponsored community, I hope the webmasters band together and provide some meaningful input as this process goes forward.

Now is the time for organizing as the February meeting is going to be in San Francisco according to my understanding. Perhaps, as the sponsored community, we should have a meaningful presence.

I think some of this is needed when they meet:

Glad to see you updated the title XBIZ. It's still a tough read in its current form, but appreciate the coverage of the news nonetheless. With so much on the line with .XXX it seems a more thorough article really delving into the meat (not just quotes) would be more appropriate.

Thanks to whoever posted those other links.

Brad

delay or not at least we wont have to hear of this for a year or two.
cross fingers.

fatfoo 12-10-2010 07:40 PM

The decision is to postpone the decision. That is interesting.

HandballJim 12-10-2010 07:49 PM

besides GFY I have not seen a lot of talk about .xxx domains in the domainer community.

fogfever 12-10-2010 08:25 PM

a delay is good news. They have been delaying for years. hopefully will for a few more years.

What exactly would stop me from setting up a .XXX, processing a bunch of fraudulent charges, and then even if they cut me off... coming up with a new identity and starting all over?

And why would ANYONE from the adult industry support .XXX where there are all kinds of things that could go wrong, all kinds of ways they could lose customers and/or control over their own business, and pretty much no measurable upside to being on a .XXX domain? The good news is, I know of like 2 people who have voiced public support of .XXX, both seems to be in the game with ICM, and that does NOT make up a community by any means ... so I'd expect that G.A.C. might still have some concerns about whether the requirements have REALLY been met. Let's hope.

i have asked them all those questions and more in person at their presentation in Vienna - too bad no one besides me was there who did that. but they had their supporters hidden in the audience which argued pro xxx without letting the people know that they are investors in this.
