Is TD Bank the worst bank in the US?

Want to get some opinions of what constitutes the worst bank.

TD Bank is the worst bank because they collect millions of dollars on fees.

TD Bank will put highest transaction... ie check... first and then if card is used throughout the day charge $35 each time if account became overdrawn.

TD Bank actually took a charge that should have posted 2 days prior and moved 2 days later because 8 transactions came out on that day... that would be 8 X $35 = $280 stolen from my account.

TD Bank claimed there is no way to prevent this except be better at zero out your checkbook.

That got the smack down by the feds...

I tried to pay off an overdraft account thru TD Bank... took me about 15 calls after 10K was wired in to..

1) find out where my money went
2) tell them where my money should have gone
3) still account not paid off and collecting interest

All after I requested how much needs to be paid, where to send, and I wanted to close account.

So now after 2 months I still have an account open in the amount of about $88 and they just won't fucking close it.

Worst bank ever... post yours please

You're saying you had a 10K overdraft and are bitching about their fees? WTF?

This is not a rage against what constitutes blind, rougue internet posts... actual question boy.

What is worst bank in US?

The feds actually mandated that banks could no longer, without consumer consent, make a $2 transaction and charge $35 on top of that.

I know you are all into the gf scene... and that is why you post ludicriously and nonstop but this is a real question homie...

Does your significant other keep track of all the money and you don't know where the bank is?

TD Bank has sucked in every way... 10K overdraft was second scenerio. I, as a customer, wanted to close the fucking thing. Said I have money to do so and how do I do it?

Answers to me varied by who I talked to and nobody would give me a rep to email and correspond directly.

Went into branch 3 times and they are just as lost as loans have nothing to do with the branch.

So, no documentation could be provided to me, only word of mouth that X dollars will pay it off, nobody knew how to pay it off, first wire bounced, second went thru... 5 days later nobody can see money.

I can go on but I hope u get the point... TD Bank really sucks.

Have a Credit Union now, even though hours are limited, the best fucking bank ever. Never a problem.. ya know

Been using TD in Canada for years now. Great service and no problems. I think the problem is the end user here.

I disagree... I think it is TD in US that is a problem.

Anybody from US that uses TD Bank I guarentee there are problems... TD Bank bought out Commerce Bank a few years back and since banking has been an issue

general consensus is that TD Bank in Canada is ok... It totally and completely sucks in the US... especially on the east where customers used to be with commerce bank.

2 totally different entities from what it sounds... I am telling you... millions of dollars have been stolen by TD Bank in US

TD is cool... Any time something happens on my account they usually credit me $100 or more just in case my checks don't clear in time.

They have even credit my account overdraft fees because I claimed that my deposit made it in before 6:00pm.

I concur!

I have been a very happy TD bank customer since the grocery store next door to it forced me to get an account 28 years ago, so they could deposit my paycheque directly ...

The adage about everything happening for a reason holds particularly true here.

I love their customer service, their free coffee, their big green chairs, and especially love their hours : 8am-8pm M-F / 8am-6pm Saturday / 11am-5pm Sunday**

**Sunday opening only at select branches

PNC by far the worst IMO.

When I was in college I had an account with them. Prior to leaving my college town I closed out the account. Rather than filing the paperwork, the rep "lost" my info. 4 months later I got a letter from a collection agency for over $250. $250 for $10/mo fee and $35 everytime it over drew my $0 balance account because it was closed out.

Turns out, after a few letters to PNC they said "oh oops, sorry" and contacted the college agency. Agency still wanted their money and reported on my credit report for years as a derogatory and I threatened to sue PNC a few times but had some legal bs about its my fault because I did not call back after I canceled the account to confirm it was canceled.

This is why I hold on to every paper I get

I've never met anyone "angry" with a bank that wasn't at fault. I've seen many many many many people switch banks because of their internet system, or 4% vs 5%, or 10c vs 25c, etc etc etc. You know, normal issues where "yeah, they were great but I switched to save X on X transactions".

no ....

TD Bank USA ( TD Bank North before, TD Bank USA before , TD Waterhouse before ) are notorius for those fees ; in fact, every 3 days, they recharge the same 35.00 fee for so called overdraft.

I had a saving account with them along with a checking account. After one of their name changes, they deposited checks in the savings, instead of the checking account.
I did an interact/credit card transaction of 5.00 that brought the checking account overdraft . Then one other transaction of 10.00 overdraft as well . Total cost for 10 days till I notice it ( as it was not refused ) :$ 340.00

And to the haters, one liners and top notch stand up guys, some here during the epassporte debacle, saw what my balance was in that account ( low 5 figures ) .

We use TD Bank ... And we have never had any problems like ... but we also keep a balance in the account for a buffer . We have no problems at the branch always willing to help and great hours ... I would recommend with any bank that you keep a balance as they are in the business of making money .. but like i said ...never a problem!

PNC, FIRST UNION (FU BANK), TDBank.... all the same.

I actually had an account with Citizens Bank as well and wired in 14K to pay off 2 loans the exact same time as TD Bank. Of course money was lost for about a week and about 8 phone calls later and 5 emails to a rep money was found, account paid and closed. It's more then I can say for TD because NOBODY at TD will provide a rep, anything in writing, a viable solution to the problem, etc.

It's all about getting those fucking fees and collecting interest. They steal your money, no doubt.

Same with me. Excellent bank, never any problems, and the branches are open longer than any other bank.

I think he's right though, and it's due to TD in the US. Canada has much stricter banking laws & regulations.

I never had any trouble with TD, but like others have said, I'm in Canada. If I had a TD closer by, I probably never would have moved my accounts.

Good luck getting the lower fees you want. Take a look at many different banks to choose the one you want.

Most banks treat you like shit unless you have enough assets to get into their "private" banking programs.

I've never had issues with a bank that weren't caused by not being able to manage money. . . which were all my fault.

Learned how to manage money, stopped having issues.

Hummmmm : http://www.tdbank.com/aboutus/company_history.html

Funny how my TD Canada Branch , as well as the TDBank representative claimed they were no longer related. I will bring them that ...

No transactions between them is done otherwise that if it was another " unrelated " bank.

A check from my TDBank account to my US TD Canada Trust account takes 21 days to clear ...

Anyway, in the US they do suck on fees and service. The only reason I keep that account is that it was opened befor 9/11 and that today to op US account for a non-resident " alien " is much more difficult ...

it is your broke down ghetto banking system in the USA that is the problem, not the bank. Don't hate the player, hate the game.
