Same thing is happening in the EU.

People didn't want the Lisbon Treaty, and they implemented it anyway. The EU can now basically do whatever it wants... without 'interference' of the people...

just like in East-Germany where 1 out 6 people reported anything their neighbors or family members did and could be considered suspicious to the secret police...
