Maybe I'm crazy but it looks like some bad touching up with photoshop around the edges
That may be because the pic was shot at 1/4 of a second (shutter speed) to allow the tungsten Christmas tree lights to expose correctly. This "slow" shutter speed will sometimes tend to blur the edges if the models moves within that 1/4 of a second (while the shutter is open). It's a beautiful technique and I give props to Nikey for his masterful use of it

Thanks for teaching me I'm far from a photography guru

Really? I said 1/4 second because according to the EXIF data from that picture, it was 1/4 sec @ F4.5 @70mm with a Nikon D200. Whatever you used - it looks great
Dean, I really do not remember exactly cause i shot with different lenses and work , work work that I hardly remember what I had for lunch yesterday... but my 50mm 1.4 lens and my 70mm 1.8 lens are my two big guns in my bag, or is it my 300, 2.8 lens and my 105, lol
thanks man , Happy Holidays
Have any of y'all tried the disposable kodak at Walgreens? I used that one the other day at the zoo using a 5600k lamp I call the "sun" Had it set on "manual zoom" (I walked closer and farther away to "zoom")
I found that through clever and skilled use of these incredible tools of the trade I was able to create photos only slightly shittier than I can with my cell phone.
lol
Nickey, those shots look absolutely awesome. And having Yurizan as the subject doesn't hurt either.
